How long is a "long time"? Are we talking like after weeks or months of grinding, or are you done with a game after like 2 or 3 attempts?

Personally, anytime I've run a game that I actually liked I haven't encountered the problem of boredom. Of the 8 games I've done speedruns of, I only really remember two as being outright boring, both of which I ditched very quickly. Meanwhile, my current speed game has held my attention for well over a year now and I'm nowhere near done with it.

I'd guess that either you haven't found the right game yet, or perhaps you're just more of a variety player that'll get more out playing lots of games than investing lots of time into a few games. Either way, if you're starting to get bored of a game then switch it up. Eventually you might come across something that keeps you interested for a while.

Uh, you just... don't. Like some others are saying, find a game you don't mind playing again and again forever.

or stop speedrunning games for a while, and learn to enjoy them again, it's not something random strangers are going to be able to solve for you.

well if you don't wanna get bored playing the game over and over again, maybe speedrun a game that you actually liked? you don't need to speedrun a game that you hate or generally boring

There's no easy one answer to this. Saying that speedrunning is not your thing is a premature answer and everybody is different. For me personally I never get bored and I play literally thousands of games for survival which isn't speedrunning but I do have a speedrun type style in my survival no death runs on youtube. You have to find your inner ability to have patience and know what type of games are fun for you. I think the more patience that you have the better off you will be.. a lot of what speedrunners have are patience you have to build this up along with the fun factor in speedrunning. You need to find also the determination and willpower to speedrun such as some examples here; Why do you want to speedrun? Is it something to pass the time, to become the best, or is it to compete with yourself and other players or perhaps even the machine itself? There are a lot of mitigating factors here and you just have to find what works for you. Like I said above, there is no one easy answer to this. I hope this helps and if you would like help or a more detailed answer let me know I'd be glad to help you! :) Sounds to me like you need a Wolf of wall street Jordan Belfort to coach you and I can be that guy.

@Former_Inputslave you disagree when I said play a different game, or when I said to stop speedrunning for a while? Then you go on to suggest playing different games and stop speedrunning?

This is the problem with asking random strangers to help solve your problem. You're going to get all sorts of conflicting and contradictory opinions. There's no explanation given for why you're not enjoying speedrunning, so we're all making assumptions. If you're feeling this way, it's best to sit and think about why you're not enjoying it. It could be the games, your living situation, your lifestyle, or any number of other reasons we can't glean. Good luck.

@Former_Inputslave What's the point of disagreeing with what I do? I answered the question of how I deal with getting bored of running a game. There's nothing to disagree with there, that's what I do. I wasn't suggesting OP do the same, or that it would definitely resolve their boredom. My second point was a suggestion to stop speedrunning for a while, and just enjoy playing games casually. How is that something to disagree with while at the same time you're suggesting the same thing, to stop speedrunning.

@Truen1ght9237 Anyway, since Ratchet and Clank speedrunning was never boring maybe go back to that, post some times, get involved in the community and check out the rest of the series or similar games.

@Former_Inputslave Did you create an account just to comment on this thread? I noticed that your account was created right before you made your first post. I feel like you're speaking as someone who either has no experience with speedrunning or you tried it and it wasn't your thing. Normal gaming might be more fun that speedrunning for you, and while I can agree that would be true for some games, I find that speedrunning creates a high replayability factor that normal gaming tends to lack.
