Input Buffering

Keyboard inputs buffer ahead quite a long time in this game. You can press Esc just before a cutscene starts and it will skip at the earliest possible moment. In theory you can even press left-click and Esc at the same time, but I don't think that's very helpful.

The same is true for Enter, which you can use to select dialog options. I personally only use Enter when I need to select all dialog options, because it feels awkward otherwise. In that case though, you can hold down Enter and mash clicks to get through all options quickly. It doesn't even need to be a particularly fast mash.

Item Exits

You can skip the little walk animation of your characters by clicking on the exit with an item selected on your cursor. Whether this works depends on the specific exit.

  • Some exits won't let you through with an item selected
  • Others let you through, but remove the item from your cursor
  • Yet others let you through and leave the item on the cursor, but the animation is not removed
  • etc

On the screens where you walk manually with Gabe/Grace, there are exits which instantly warp you, if you click on them with an item selected. It works for the clock shop on Marienplatz and the path towards the castle in Rittersberg.

Munich Map

When you're on the Munich map during Gabriel's chapters, double click your destinations to skip the "hourglass cursor" wait time.

Music Volume

The length of the music fade-out, that some screens have when you exit them, depends on the volume setting. The higher the volume, the longer the fade-out. Volume level 0 = no fade-outs, which means instant exits.

Item Hitboxes

The hotspots/hitboxes in this game aren't really "boxes", instead they follow the actual graphic representations. And so a lot of items - even in your inventory - have holes. In case you're wondering why you keep missing that one item half the time you click on it...

Paperwork

Whether you only need to look at or actually read things (or only open a letter) is pretty arbitrary. Here is a list:

  • Chapter 1 newspaper: read
  • Grace-to-Gabriel letter #1: open
  • Übergrau letter: open
  • Wolf sign at the zoo: read
  • Klingmann's receipt: look at
  • Victor Ritter's journal: look at
  • Letter to Ludwig II: look at
  • Black book: look at
  • Photos in the basement: zooming in is sufficient
  • Chapter 3 newspaper: look at
  • Chapter 4 Gabe letter: open
  • left-most panel about Ludwig's diary: read
  • Ludwig's diary plaque in case: look at
  • Neuschwanstein wolf panels: only Tour tape button needed
  • Chapter 6 von Glower's letter: look at
  • Penitent offerings case: look at
  • Theater diagram: click on X
  • Seating chart: click on Mittel Loge

Flags

Chapter 4

To spawn Gerde in church: Talk about "Ludwig II" & "Gabriel's Tarot" with Mrs Smith, open Gabriel-to-Grace letter #2

To spawn roses (trade for car keys): Click on Gerde in church

To call Barclay: At Herrenchiemsee, seen the midnight sleigh painting AND looked at the Ludwig's diary plaque

To get to the Wagner museum: At Herrenchiemsee, READ left-most Ludwig's Diary panel AND ask the lady about the 'new Wagner opera'

To get access to Georg's three required dialog options: Look at the Ludwig's diary plaque AND listen to the tour tape in front of any of the wolf panels at Neuschwanstein

To talk to Gerde about the special permit: Talk about "The Black Wolf" with Dallmeier three times

To call publisher: Talk about "Ludwig's Diary" with Dallmeier

To write the letter: Ask Gerde about "Special Permit", call Chaphill

Lilies grow after: Talk to Mrs Smith about "Ludwig Dream"

Gerde tells you about the fax: Gotta have done the lily, mailed the letter, and talked to Georg about "Lost Opera"

Crashes

I get a semi-consistent crash in chapter 6 when Grace is about to use the water on the chair. Taking things slowly around here seems to help. At least I hope so.
