I have the same problem. Maybe it would also be a good idea to extend the game setting "Measure run times in milliseconds" to only allow one certain precision of milliseconds (no milliseconds, tenths, hundredths, or thousandths). So for example, when the in-game timer of a game only shows hundredths, the mods could change that setting so that runners can only enter two numbers in the milliseconds text field when submitting a run.
I think the 1 second loading time difference is happening because LinuxHater has turned the sounds setting off, which disables the computer voice that reads out the level names. This causes every level to start faster since the game stays on the loading screen until the voice is done talking, even though it may have already finished loading. Interestingly, on the mobile version the game doesn't wait on the loading screen and just starts the level even if the voice is still talking.
There could still be smaller loading time differences between different PCs or between PC, 3DS and WiiU, but for a fair leaderboard we would have to remove loads on every platform. I think loading times should be quite consistent on WiiU and 3DS, but someone who owns these versions (I don't) would have to check and measure that. Because of that, I would suggest to wait until we know more about loads on WiiU and 3DS until we change the rules to remove loads.
Another point would be whether to still use RTA and just remove loads or to switch to IGT entirely so that the time you submit would be all your in-game level times added (this would be the same as enabling the "In-Game Timer" setting in the autosplitter). These two timing methods are not the same because for some reason the in-game timer runs about 36% faster than real time. Additionally, pausing would stop the timer which would allow for new or different strats.
I will definitely change the rules for the PC version to say that everyone should turn their sounds setting off as it decreases load times. The thing with the two mentioned changes in the timing method is that they both result in faster times which would make all past runs kind of obsolete and easily beatable. So maybe we should wait until there are more runners playing this game before we make that change. What do you think?
I think this would be more confusing for new runners as not everyone knows which version of the game was made or published by which studio. Also the Wikipedia page says that Mobigame developed a new 3D engine for EDGE Extended while TwoTribes just released the extended levels as an update for the original game.
This is really interesting, I didn't know of this until now. I think it shouldn't be allowed in runs though because the rules state that you have to complete every level.
I looked into the mobile version of the game and noticed more differences to the PC version like a different amount of prisms, different prism locations and small other differences in some levels, so I decided to split the leaderboard into a PC and Mobile subcategory. I also made a guide where I summarized all differences I could find ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wAb0rDa0hNOLZBSyBpjaB_SKHcl3oE6eGHHYCiPHMog ). If someone finds platform differences that aren't listed in the document, please tell me about them. Also, if someone owns the Wii U/3DS version of the game it would be really nice if they could tell me whether these versions are the same as the PC version or the mobile version or if there are even more differences.
@Mr_yoso A few days ago I asked in the moderator forum thread because the other two mods have been inactive for almost 2 years so they removed them and promoted Cyberdemon to super mod and they added me as a mod @Imaproshaman Good idea. I don't know if it could be confusing because in both RTA and IGT, you are using the ingame timer. Would Any%/100% and EDGE Time Any%/100% be a good idea for category names?
I changed the names of the IL categories: Real Time -> Real Time Any% All Prisms Real Time -> Real Time 100% Game Time -> Game Time Any% Score -> Game Time 100% I also turned on verification. If you have any problems with changes or want to suggest new changes, just write your ideas in this thread.
I would like to request mod for the game EDGE (https://www.speedrun.com/edge) because the super mod (Fe) hasn't been online in almost 2 years and I also tried to contact her on Discord a month ago but my friend request hasn't been accepted yet. The only mod I could contact was Cyberdemon531 and she has agreed on making me mod but isn't able to because she's only mod and not super mod.
I think it should be fine if you just submit a screenshot with your best time
I looked into the android version which I suppose is the same as the iOS version and it also seems like the level order, some of the level maps and the amount of prisms in some levels is different from the PC version so I would suggest putting runs done on the mobile version to a different leaderboard
I think you can submit it there as long as the levels on the iOS version are the same as the levels on the other versions
I'm currently doing ILs but when I have more time I'll probably do full-game runs too
Console: DSi XL
Region: EUR/PAL
Date set: 01/01/2000
Time set: 00:00
Brief overview: I set the date and the time and right after tapping on "Okay", I press the power button. Similar to AndreMH's first setup, I start the game on the third "on" of the colon in the upper right corner. I mash A to select a new file and perform 5 double jumps and 3 triple jumps in 1-1.
