bit of context, back when I first got into speedrunning I was able to do the end part of e12 but really sucked at doing the strat prior to it that let me get to the turrents properly. I made this much easier (for me) strat and posted it on the forums, buuuuut someone said it was slow and bad so I got embarrassed and deleted it cause I was an insecure 15 year old at the time. having grown up since then I've realized, fuck that guy, here's the strat. ZERO clue if this strat is more widely known or there is a newer strat that is both faster and easier than before since it's been over 5 years, but if not here ya go to anyone that struggled in the same way I did. you really only need to be good at ABH's but if you are going for strats like the end of e12 then I'm confident you already got ABH's on lock.

No, any command that is not white listed in the official rules forum post are not allowed. You are allowed to manually change to a more preferable FOV in the settings menu before your run, but changing it using a key bind during/ before a run is not allowed (I'm pretty sure), since it is not white listed . What i'm not sure about is why you would want to have a key bind to change FOV in the first place, but to each their own I guess :)

First off, don't use the steam version. Go to the resource page and download source unpack, this is a file that contains hl2 and portal before any glitches were patchted out. as for getting on the leaderboard, on the leaderboards you'll see a button labeled "submit run" click that and then fill out the page (things like time with and without loads, what category, if you used vault save, and provide the YT link to your run). And some helpful advice, I recommend having a in-game time timer and real time timer on livesplit. Also I recommend you watch XeiZ SC, he has the best tutorials for any strat (in my opinion)

yeah, what you proposed is way better. tbh i not sure if posting this in the first place was a good idea, cause the strat was slow and didn't really offer anything viable. i would definitely delete this entire post if i had the power, but only mods can. the main reason for me deleting all my posts was to prevent people new to the game thinking that this ........thing is "good" and doing it in runs, even though every other strat that they can do is faster. also, thanks for giving me your opinions on this, it really opened my eyes to how bad this method was.

When you die to the goo, 98% percent of the the time, you looked up too high. The other 2% is when you clip into a wall and get stuck or you ram into a metal bar and lose all your momentum

footage capture is usually a good form of proof, if you show what is needed. Also it is not recommended that you run on current patch (because that patched out most of the save glitches), so go to the bottom of https://www.speedrun.com/Portal/resources , click on source unpack and you'll download a folder with portal when it was first released. steam will have to be open in order for you to run it but other than that you ready to go. if you have any more questions just DM me on discord and i'll get back to you in a day or two. my discord is ThunderRa1der#8081
