I've asked this question for normal 3ds timing and they say it's the exact same, but you have to change the delay and time on the console & timer you're using
potentially capture card reasons or something
those are garbage categories. run real stuff like subspace. literally the best smash bros speedrun among all the games.
I think that this game needs time to evolve, since it literally just came out. There's a lot of cutscenes and down time in the game, but thats already to be expected seeing how game freak is going for more story based elements and cinematics. Omega Ruby had a lot of just initial time savers; (various warps to certain towns that would save back tracking, options to skip certain things, etc. Along with X/Y those games were just a lot shorter in general. The trials and different puzzles, just take longer than beating gyms in some cases. so yeah, they did go for something very different than the usual format which is going to make these games much longer. This game is also a lot harder than the original, imo. They up scaled the difficulty due to the general mass' saying the first sun/moon was too easy lol
It's slightly better to track with it that way. ILs being labeled for Classic runs is just how it's been handled most of the time. I personally think it looks fine, especially since it's the more important categories. bonuses were already handled pretty well on cyberscore so for speedrun.com we focus on the classic mode.
its a boring category to me, and i think some other top runners dont really care for it either
Not until some major changes to leader board happen first. Although cyberscore already has all of them documented and you can submit yours there for now

yeah i've also been doing this for all my runs. you can hit the switch with thunder after breaking the block & you don't need the damage boost off the cymul to make it to the other platform
After you kill olimar & reset, pick charizard first for the duon fight. It'll be way faster to do it with charizard & then right after that it takes your to the Halberd where you can quickly SD off the side and it'll switch you back to MK literally in front of the door you need to go in.
MK is optimal for Classic, but is alot harder to be consistent with. Pikachu is very easy to use for all of them. Kirby is very heavily RNG based. but decent.
We are currently planning to make a lot of changes to the leaderboard pretty soon. (again) Wii VC runs are the slowest version to run on. Several seconds slower than N64 due to character transitions and not being able to mash through them. But if there's things that people would like to see added we'll take consideration of them.
why wouldnt you just let the timer keep running
it's not on a N3DS its on Original 3DS.
along the lines of the the RI Wrong Warp at the end is probably the hardest trick in the game, or close to it. It requires a lot of practice and grinding to get it down. It's frame perfect, the item menu has to be hit at the right time and you have to be close enough to land on the edge of the warp. aron has a great video of it in his recent post. So i'd say check it out. It's in general a really hard trick and can discourage new runners, I went through the same thing; just give it some time. There's other methods too that can work. For example you don't even need to home buffer the trick, you can just mash the button. (it's abit consistent but if you know the timing for using RI without side hopping it's pretty much the same thing. A few runners have told me that works for them.)
this is pretty cool! i havent seen this yet but looks pretty nice. im sure this could also make use of lucas' side b jump cancel, might be able to up b from it and skip it there.
this is for any% and pits glide is a lot faster than mk's. and almost no one knew about this so i finally got around to making this :P
this strat beats the entire stage without having to touch the ground after leaving the purple cloud. This is a lot faster than doing multiple glides and doing the up b skip for the fight. it is not done as optimally as it can be; I did a safe method doing more dives than necessary to have appropriate height. can be done with at least 2-3 less. this was found by pikashy.
