While some planes are great for certain areas, I would like to try others. Is this even possible?
Does it mean all levels or what?
What does this error even mean and why is this relevant to speedrun.com?
Those large hives are incredibly vulnerable to mines which is strange. Makes for one extremely short mission and helps with the final mission.
Great job but you did not use the mine trick against the large hive in The Return or the final level which would have saved off a couple minutes.
I will be checking this out over the next couple days.
Japanese version is faster. If you die you respawn at inn, unlike in the English version.
-Japanese version gives you more leeway with Elixirs. This means in the desert you can survive with one less heart than the English version. Make sure to hold down when taking constant damage like in deserts to avoid any knockback.
-Because of the above it MIGHT be faster to completely skip the underwater temple.
- There is a clip I found in falling blocks, I will put it in userfiles. It seems useless in the position I found it, but it might be useful elsewhere. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/62185639693467947 -Getting stuck under the breakable blocks and then getting pushed is faster in some cases, but you will lose health flexibility. A user submitted an example video on SRC in their guide section. https://www.speedrun.com/wonder_boy_in_monster_world/guides -The quick jump up before Maou is quick and dirty and does not screw anything up for whatever reason as per Aqfaq's note.
Good info in this thread.

Ok awesome! Yea I remember that thing being insane to hit. Dozens of attempts makes sense. GG!
Not sure if you saw my conversation so posting it here. Is it really true that you legit got the fly for 5000 like that? It is just so extremely unlikely I have to ask for you to be honest with me. Even with save states that fly is hard to shoot.
Thanks a lot chicdead26! I have a link in the video description...for the longer description, but the direct link is below.
Main points:
-
Stacking attacks on the bosses on the same frame.
-
Stacking attacks such that weaker attacks are mixed with strong ones so that they only flinch instead of going airborne or the super slow "super effective" screen pause.
-
Getting certain attacks from certain bosses where they do not flinch. Shademan and Diveman especially.
-
Hide bosses from camera to get orbs to fall as fast as possible to start the next round asap.
This one is slightly faster using an orb despawn trick.
Made a 2 Player TAS for this game. You can read the notes on the link below. https://tasvideos.org/8426S
RTA : real time ILs : game time
You mention an issue with timing and pausing, what do you mean by that exactly? Also do you have an example where the IL Game Time vs Real Time is actually different? I did not notice anything.
I am to open to suggestions though I do not want to make anything restrictive since I would rather people be able to submit whatever they have.
For those not aware. You can do it off the floor and wall too. Use the grapple and then just as your sprite changes to having the arm up press the direction you want to move fast in and then press jump. Tricky to do but you can get some great distance doing it.
Taking a look through Qainet 's run, and not understanding the tricks being used here. https://www.speedrun.com/bloody_spell_/run/zq0edv5y
- He jump up the sheer cliff wall here. How?
- How does he go through the ceiling?
- He suddenly goes to the top of the ladder using the sister. How is that done?
Thank you.
