I've gone ahead and added Win and Lose subcategories to Quickplay%, and have also added Injury% and TD% as misc. categories :)

New York, USAbobakanoosh555553 years ago

I'm always open to new categories! Lose% being the same as Quickplay, but without the requirement to win?

New York, USAbobakanoosh555554 years ago

I suppose it's to the discretion of moderation, but I would count that as a glitch. It's a bit hard to define in a really broken game like this, but I'd say it goes against the intended course path and skips too much of the track.

Thank you Rapid_, very cool!

I'm not one for Amiibo in runs, especially without category separation, but your argument is a bit flawed here. The only thing amiibo spoofers allow is ease of access and a lower entry barrier - naturally considered a good thing. Seeing as they have the same usage in the game, and offer no physical difference, there is no "unfair advantage". The run is still legitimate, and it changes nothing in the run or the game itself.

EDIT : Woahoho, missed the sub category separation for amiibo, my apologies for the mistake.

Both are allowed, it's a matter of preference. I'm not a big fan of some stages, and rather than just play on a few tournament legal stages, i found it more helpful to have a normalized stage setting. Since all Omega stages are tournament legal, I just decided to go with those. Any combination is permitted by the current rules, permitted that whatever stages that are enabled are all tournament legal.

I believe this was known previously (though I can't say for certain). Actually got stumped for a bit on the puzzle there and used that in my casual playthrough before figuring it out. Congrats for discovering it on your own though.

So you really didn't have a consistent setup? Your run looked so clean, I was sure you had something figured out :P

Does anyone (including Rapid_) know how he got the High Bounce on the red button on all three laps? That's a huge time save.

True, controller sucks. Sub Category? If an emulator were to exist somehow.

New York, USAbobakanoosh555556 years ago

I may be mistaken, I've watched a few videos on the topic now... My apologies!

New York, USAbobakanoosh555556 years ago

Sadly, warping to Calamity Ganon fight from the plateau has been tried with hacks, and still voids out. I believe it was in a video from "Gymnast86" - a popular Wind Waker streamer - which also included many other details about the void out.

Basically the only chance we have at plateau skip is tricking the game into giving us the paraglider early

Seconded, I disagree with modding during speedrunning in any way, save for a very small number of exceptions. The way they influence even the loadtimes of the game can never be determined, and therefore can never be truly fair. Anything that modifies the game has a chance at creating an uneven playing field, and should be avoided.

Could somebody update the rules for CPU ironman? the rules say twice "Chronological", meaning in time order, which would be some confusing arrangement in which game and watch is first, through Corrin, similar to how all star mode is ran.

TL;DR - Change "Chronological Order" to just "Order" in the rules for CPU Ironman

New York, USAbobakanoosh555556 years ago

Perfect, looks great! Thanks :D

New York, USAbobakanoosh555556 years ago

Thanks STAR fox, thats great! Can't wait to throw down a run.

"Time starts when stage is selected for first character (mario) " Could this be altered? I feel many would use the "random stages" mode for stage selection, which would cause confusion on starting time.

I love this idea. I have a for glory iron man submitted and lag was a HUGE problem. This would be a lot of fun, and a lot easier

"Still there are several people who don't run the game and still voice their opinion in a rather loud and intrusive way, you cannot deny that. "

I would never try to deny that, nor can I say that soya isn't one of those people - I have no means of proving that, nor is that particularly important to me. The presumption of such is what I have a problem with. There are many people with a well informed opinion that do not have a name on the leader boards. I do not currently have any times submitted, but I am fairly well informed on BotW speedrunning, keep up with it regularly, and know a good amount about moderating speedrun.com leader boards, though only being a moderator in smaller communities myself. I find the overwhelming favor given to some people over others when taking opinion is unjust.

I certainly agree that those evidently running the game, and those with experience with moderating Zelda speedrunning should be held highly when it comes to matters of opinion, even over newer runners or those with knowledge and experience - but unsubmitted times. I would argue that demeaning these players is the wrong way to go about this, and that their opinion still holds great value - especially if you have no background on these players.

I understand there are many who do argue for the sake of arguing, and I wouldn't be quick to deny that soya is indeed one of those people. However, being grouped in with such people myself, I find the approach taken to such people is regrettable.

I hate to return to this thread, but the "Yeah but the thing is you don't want to run the game, you just want to sit here and have your opinion heard and pretend like it's going to have some big everlasting effects on the community. ....." comment by quo left a bad taste in my mouth.

As TreZc0 stated, the entire process of properly orienting the leader boards is still underway. The "high horse" position taken in saying that soya's argument is invalid - presuming they don't care about the game, or simply being a streamer fanboy - is not only demeaning, but uninformed. There are several runners who either do not wish to post to speedrun.com, or do not wish to post a time until they are satisfied, the latter of which I fall under. Despite this, I would hope my input on the forum would not instantly be ruled out as fallacious.
