Mine is fairly advanced: I use what's called a "Passthrough HDMI" capture card. This means that the HDMI from my game runs into the card, and an HDMI runs out of the card to the TV or monitor. There is also a USB 2.0 output that outputs the video being "passed through" the card, which hooks up with USB to my computer, so I can just press record in OBS (Open Broadcasting Software, the recording program I use).

The capture card I linked is much simpler, but works a bit differently. That card is a straight line between your console and your PC. You plug the three prongs into the capture card, and the capture card into a USB port, and from there you can record with the program it comes with or anything else, like OBS. Difference is, the capture card creates a bit of latency since it is not passthrough. However, with the Diamond 500, the one I linked, the delay was very minimal, and didnt really pose a problem to me, even when playing games that require low latency, like Smash Bros.

Thats about all you need to know! Let me know if you have other questions

Just a heads up to all, I've added a full map for ease of navigation to the Guides tab. Check it out if you'd like!

You cannot get German on an NTSC Wii U without modding it.

New York, USAbobakanoosh555557 years ago

I believe French is second. Go German all of the time, save for if you're stuck on NTSC, just go French. Believe its only a second slower in All Dungeons or something.

@SpoinkPlaysGames , there's a separate, highly debated thread on amiibo that you can feel free to weigh in on, just look on the forum page :)

Despite WR being non-Amiibo, there's no denying it saves plenty of time. This is acknowledged by all 4 runners in any% to my knowledge. Seth won't run amiibo, and Venick wishes he didn't have to, and only does because it's faster, despite his disdain for them. The problem is not the ability to filter out runs, but rather the fact that they are treated as equally comparable to begin with.

This comment is completely personal opinion. I believe (assuming others have the same view I have) that people find amiibo more obtrusive than a separate console because it changes more of the game itself. To the average person, hardware that gives slightly shorter load times may seem less advantageous than hardware that gives an item/utility to the player in game, a much more concrete, visual advantage. Further, load times are less prominent in a shorter run like any%, while amiibo grant a larger overall advantage. I understand the precedent set with Wind Waker, but there's plenty of precedent set contrary to this in other games. Seeing as BotW is drawing in a lot of runners previously uninvolved in running games in the Zelda franchise, I don't think this should be overlooked. Again, this could certainly just be me, but I'm guessing that this is the case for many people who are for the creation of sub-categories.

Not true. Here's the leaderboard for Wave Race 64, which does just that. Similar to this scenario, each system the game is ran on offers different clock speeds and load times, and are separated.

I think its notable that A PAL Wii U only saves ~20 seconds in any%, while amiibo certainly save more. The drastic comparison raises a similar point, but not exactly a fair one in this case.

Magiobiwan, I think this concept primarily applies to Any%, where magnesis isn't necessary

I definitely agree with sub categories, seems the best plan of action

Amiibo DEFINITELY need to be on a completely separate page for Any%. The use of Amiibo is far too advantageous to reasonably compare it to non-Amiibo runs. Compounding this, the access of certain amiibo to the general public is fairly limited, and doesn't really create an even playing field for Any%. Gotta at least separate them into different pages under Any%, or make it a different category. Anyone who has an understanding of the amiibo functionality in this game should grasp that its use is incomparable to non-amiibo runs.

I'd go on to say this should be made true for all categories

I disagree, Customs are a completely different meta than normal gameplay - They add plenty to the gameplay, and should be kept included, but those without access to good customs should be able to have a category to run, as should people in favor of balanced and fair gameplay
