I'm the only runner for this game unfortunately, so no discord. There is a separate leaderboard for SupCom1 and the expacs, but I don't know anything about those games, so I'd check the leaderboards.
Why are the game categories inconsistent? I get having different categories for different patches, but some are tiny maps and some are small. It's very inconsistent and off-putting. Like the rule-sets seem extremely arbitrary. The 2.0.4 rule-set specifies 6 AI empires and a lot of additional rules, whereas the 1.8 rule-set has less and no additional empires.
I don't really agree, they're fleshed out runs, and not irrelevant/outdated. They've almost tripled the amount of people that run this game, and probably shouldn't be in the misc section since most people won't see them there. I would also argue that uprising shouldn't be there either, and only the outdated practice range runs/tutorial skip should be since they're either unrunable now, or very niche alternatives to runs people don't do much. You shouldn't hide your main attraction in the misc section...
I recently ran a team Roshan Kill run, and we killed Rosh 40 Seconds before Creeps spawned. Currently there is no way to notate runs with negative in game time, as putting our in game as 40 seconds would imply that the run took a minute longer than it did. Currently my only option is to leave in game time blank which doesn't seem like a great solution since in game time is what seems to have priority, so our run would be ranked lower than the run which took 3 more minutes than ours.
All of those games use a load time remover from livesplit. You have the same timer going the entire time but the program cuts out the loading time and pauses it automatically the frame the load starts. I don't know how difficult it is to set up but it wouldn't require any editing or multiple timers. We'd just need someone to set the loadless timer up in livesplit.

I could go on.
Most PC games remove load times, because it makes the game a more even playing field. Speedrunning should be a test of skill. Not a test of who has the fastest computer. Were getting to the point where 5-10 seconds are seperating class% runs, and a good 20 seconds of the run is load screens. If I take 20 seconds to load and new person X takes 30 seconds, but they're 5 seconds faster at the ACTUAL run (not including load times) that means they don't get the WR even though they play better than me.
Since the Class% runs are getting more and more competitive, I was wondering if we could consider cutting out load times between maps. I'm not sure how it would work logistically, but it might help times be more consistent between runners.
If you're interested at all in playing MOBAs, Heroes of the Storm is a really fun game to run, and the community is pretty active, without being really large and overwhelming.
It's recently come to my attention that several characters have misspelled names. Would it be possible for someone to go through and verify that they are all spelt correctly? If not I can. I'd just need to be made a low level mod.
Thanks everyone! I'm definitely going to have to invest time in Dark Souls.
Ah OK, thank you. That's much more clear. Thank you! Yeah Ill try to keep an eye out for patch notes since I'd prefer a run count, but if I complete the run on the PTR after he's released it'll essentially be the same version.
Also, as a bit of a sidenote, are PTR runs available? It's not specified in the rules, and there's some heroes I can't feasibly get soon that I'd like to try to run, and so the PTR is the only resource available really. Specifically Blaze and Fenix.
Is having the specifications for map rotations in the % runs necessary? For example many competitive runs use Blackheart bay with isn't allowed in the rules currently, but was when the Runs were completed. This makes it a bit confusing since it's not obvious whether those maps are legal or not. If certain maps are banned for whatever reason that seems reasonable, but currently having the legal maps based on seasonal rotation seems over-complicated and unnecessary.
Also, If anyone has suggestions for capture cards to use for recording an Xbox I'd mega appreciate them!
Hey guys! I've been active on the site for a few weeks, but this is my first delve into the forums so I figured I'd make a post. My name is Yûe and I enjoy speedrunning a wide range of games and genres. I currently hold the Any% WR for Pyre, Endless Legend, Supreme Commander 2, and several categories of Heroes of the Storm. I'm currently practicing a run of Dark Souls 1, and pathing a 3 player co-op run of Borderlands The Pre-Sequel. I have an active Youtube Channel where I upload Speedrun themed content for different games every other day. (Once I have a library of enough content I intend to upload daily) So if any of that sounds appealing I'd highly suggest checking out my channel! I'm sure I'll interact with many of you as I learn different games.

EDIT: If anyone is interested in running a very unbreakable RTS or a chill 4X game based on a lot of RNG Hit me up. I have lots of notes for Supcom2 and Endless Legend. (The Supcom2 Xbox run is actually insanely broken and fun but I have no way to record It so i've been stuck with the much better patched PC version.) Either way i'd love to see the communities for these games grow as they're a lot of fun. Thanks everyone!
Also It's totally fine to verify your own runs. I mod a few other games and its completely acceptable. It's pretty risky to approve a run that was cheated in or suspicious, so it's unlikely anyone would approve their own times that they cheated in. (Not implying you do, ofc)
Im down for that as well. Although the times may be able to be beaten right now, it seems unfair that a run which was done patches ago and might be unoptimal is very difficult to beat optimally right now. Should this effect the older runs in the tournament run categories? (Specialist%, Assasin% etc.)
It's definetly ok! You can check out my profile for an example. Personally I like experiments and challenging myself to improve times in lots of different games, using strategies that others don't, rather than running the same game over and over to improve one specific category. It just comes down to what you like!
