There are a lot of points you can manage your inventory, like even before you get to the main house when you kill Mia, you can move it to the main slot ready for the hatch key; and a new one I found is during the Mia videotape when you're coming up the final elevator from B2F to 2F ready to end, youve got time in the elevator to move your inventory slot to the slot ready for the lug wrench. I find more every time I run. Sure it's not much, maybe 0.5-1 second, but if you do it 30 times in a run thats 30 to 60 seconds saved
Just saying; it's now been proven possible! No gun needed, even if it is extremely difficult. Well, knife only madhouse "extremely difficult" is kind of the entire point
I've also tested this for Madhouse, for whatever reason the M21 seems to have a much more massive damage multiplier in Madhouse. I found myself needing 2-3 M37 headshots for molded, but only 1 with the M21, its weird but I think they did it to give some slight edge since the normal shotgun can be obtained long before the broken shotgun in madhouse, whereas on easy its practically the same time, unless you fancy backtracking for some odd reason. (The model gun is in the basement, you can go straight back up and grab the shotgun but you can't go outside to the repair kit)
I'd wager the M21 does at least 2x if not 2.5x damage for madhouse as opposed to easy which I feel is perhaps only a 1.5x multiplier. But I can't be certain, thats just from my experience with it.
Definitely not a graphics issue then; I doubt yours would struggle with two screens either but hey, it is worth a shot mine can't handle it. Aside from that, just variable framerate and perhaps in OBS (or whatever recording software you use) set your recording FPS to lower, I recommend 30, and check out your encoding options
I tested this hardcore since when NG first started I was maybe the 3rd or 4th to route it; and I refused to believe the M37 was a better option. The time it takes to get each shotgun is relatively the same, perhaps a minor discrepancy, however the M21 will give you more bang for your literal buck.
One of the tests I did is mainly reliabilty; but lets assume the M37 does "1" damage per close range hit, and given the M21's boost lets assume its "1.5"
The M37 i tested to have a slower fire rate in general, except up to 8 shells. The M21 fires quicker in succession but counting in the reloads up to 8 shells and so on is slower.
Lets multiply the numbers so they look more number-y
M37: 100/Shell M21: 150/Shell
I did the test per 8 shots, now do those number M37: 100¤8=800 M21: 150¤8=1200
Well holy bejebus! Thats a significant damage multiplier over a lot more shots. AKA, come big boss time you're going to need a whole 4 more shots to match the damage that the M21 just put out.
But that wasn't good enough for me, because this is speedrunning, damage isn't everything especially with Iframe bosses. It takes the M37 12.3 seconds by my old timing (if i can recall accurately) to blast off those 8 rounds, but it took the M21 13.6 or so. M21 deals that 1200, but it deals it slower than the M37's 800.
Then you do the good ol' speedrun math; bear in mind I literally did all this testing to prove that margeurite is a loooot more reliable, and potentially faster using the M21.
M37: 800/12.3=65.-Per second M21: 1200/13.6=88.-Per second
Doesn't look like much of a difference, right? These were assuming you were constantly firing. The point being, to match the damage of the M21, you need an entire 6 more seconds to unload 4 extra rounds; which is fine if you're just running and gunning headshotting molds, it doesnt matter, but with bosses, that extra little damage per shot could trigger a death. This is also assuming the multiplier of the M21 is only ¤1.5, if its any more, hell yeah its worth it.
Thats a lot of complicated shit I did to try test it thats probably all wrong; long story short, M21 deals more damage, even if its a little slower to reload in the long run. Not to mention everyone seems to have started using it after I did, hey, its gotta be good!
There is definitely difficulty adjustment; Trance first did it and I tested it with bosses, on easy fair enough, but I don't know if its locked at a constant, im sure it lessens based on healing items, but also damage when entering the fight too. I found if you enter some fights on exceptionally low health the bosses are significantly easier to kill.
Ive never thought about if healing items in your inventory can potentially lower boss health, if it does then it seems the best way to go about the madhouse is to have very few or just one healing item in your inventory, and perhaps try to enter the fight on low health then heal up and it should pass a lot easier.
Remember, routing for good times and speedrunning is all about laborious testing; I'm talking strenuous hours of whittling away at even tiny things. Today alone I spent about 6 hours perfecting chainsaw jack alone. Youve got to go at it for a looong time. Theres a way of doing it, theres always a way, its just finding it.
Also when testing remember to reload, not retry if you die or kill an enemy or boss; I can confirm from my own testing that some of the boss fights (easy and madhouse, though madhouse I haven't tested as much) do change difficulty based on prior retries. AKA: If you kill a boss, and retry to do it again, that boss will be tougher; if you die, the boss will be easier. (Not true for all bosses though)
My CPU is normally running at 99% too.
Bawks i5 is 3.3, my AMD 6300 is 3.4 too; I don't think your issue is CPU anymore, the 1440p monitor may cause some issues, but nothing major, what I find is when I plug in my second monitor i literally cannot run the game, my GPU doesn't have enough memory to sustain running the game on one with the other screen running too. If you're using a second monitor perhaps try unplugging that
It could be down to your graphics card, whichever one you may have, im running on a 750 Ti which is actually below the minimum recommendation as far as im aware; the only time I get harsh lag is when I lock my FPS. If you've got your FPS locked to 30,60,90 or 120, youre gonna get lag, set it to variable and it might smooth it out more.
Quizzles run got rejected since he started the game and used the defense items and supply box, I didn't even get to the part of marg hole before rejecting the run. If he did well, even more reason.
It still stands for madhouse currently, no pre order bonus, no NG+ items; im 99% sure the hole is do-able knife only, sure, its not easy and it probably takes a lot of effort to find enough healing items to make it through; but theres a strategy for everything.
I'm willing to discuss it with the other mods though if this is something that really gets enough attention to be visited, until then I may go through madhouse myself and see if I can't do it.
As far as i'm aware Bawk runs on an i5 and runs pretty damn good and streams+records with it. Unless yours is a low-end i5, like, the worst, then it should handle it. Try streaming/recording with the game running and check your CPU usage. Theres a lot of factors: How much RAM have you got What GPU are you using Are you running from an SSD Have you got 50 chrome tabs open in the background (actually, like 3 is enough) Have you disabled aero, and are you minimizing unnecessary CPU usage (dropbox and itunes process' aren't required factors for a speedrun!)
Regardless of whether it's "easy" defense scrolls aren't allowed.
Some enemies in the game are only designed to damage you down to 1hp; aka bugs. Just bugs really infact. The bugs in the hole can't kill you and a lot of the spider cabinets can't either, theyre just annoying.
I imagine in game design they thought "what if someone has no healing items and no ammo, and maybe even put their knife in the box; we can't punish them for not knowing an inescapable hole was coming". So short answer, no, the bugs in the hole can't kill you.
Also there isn't much discussion to the matter, knife only is NG only. No defense coin, scrolls, glasses, walking shoes, supply box, dirty coin, saw, nada, anything that comes from pre-order or from after beating the game (excluding madhouse difficulty, duh) is strictly prohibited and will be denied
Simple answer; upgrade your PC really. My PC is a piece of shit, i use windowed 1600x1024 with literally everything set to off or minimum and I still lag while recording. If you're lagging while using a beast of a PC, y'alls PC got some internal issues, or your CPU/GPU settings are wrong.
Recommended hardware for this game is
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 3770 3.4GHz or AMD equivalent or better Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 3GB VRAM
As much as I don't run knife-only so this isn't something I can say is useful for me, im wondering if this can be employed for my normal NG run, I managed to one cycle jack yesterday with some initial damage and then with the chainsaw I was attacking his legs mainly, and he just died while standing up, im wondering if you can use the crouching method to do the damage to the legs I did consistently. Either way, nice strat!
Weird one; these are just random things I think, sometimes enemy models freeze or they clip through walls and floors and everything; it happens
See this is weird because carci changed from variable where he couldn't hit it to 120 and he started getting it.
It's so random it seems
Okay I see where you're saying "36". When I time a boss kill I time it from the moment the boss spawns in to the moment the boss death animation starts. That took you 17 or 18 seconds right there, there's no reason to count the time it takes to reach the boss from entering the area and the time you wait around for her to drop the item, this is also probably what the leaderboard does; it starts the timer when the boss enitity enters the map and ends when the boss hp reaches 0
Hey I know he might be stating the obvious but he's trying to help people who might not know, even if we think everyone does give the guy a break lol
She does, she essentially always takes damage so long as you can see her model and something hitscans her; she can't die while currently in a stuck animation though, so if she's already part climbing out of the map she can't die, but will be taken to 1hp essentially.
She can't die when: on the ceiling, on her back on the floor, climbing in or out of the map, is screaming at you or loading her next move (e.g. She jumps back sometimes, she can't die during this jump load but once she lands she can). This is how I know you can kill her in like 20-25 seconds, if you can time her iframes like I've done, you can maximize damage done while she can't die, then when iframes are up, poof, one shot and dead.
In my NG+ runs sure I've had bad fights even the VODS show that, but during practice I've done it
That's the whole thing, "if" its dependant on vsync, someone says they managed to do it by changing vsync settings so I tried to see why that could be; whether it is truly possible or not I don't know, I'm unsure what causes it and I don't have a console so, I can't test that
20s on madhouse I don't know, but trust me 20s marg is entirely possible, 25 is more likely, I'll see if I can get it on video, it takes about 7 seconds for her to get out of the window, you can deal half her HP before then, another 8 seconds or so to get her to spawn downstairs and an easy 10 seconds once she's down from the hole
In general no but I suppose because Mia is moving and there is blood effects occurring and the axe moving the screen doesn't align itself with everything going on due to vsync going on.
I dunno though
