Is there a board looking to be added for this new title?

United StatesVyPr2 years ago

Hey everyone, it's that time of year again, and we are back with the second event of the bi-annual Run Week! For those of you new to this event, we put this together in the Farmington community to boost the activity of smaller, lesser known games on the site, as well games with empty categories.

Over the course of this event week (July 17th-23rd), we will be tracking the amount of runs which are submitted by users who decide to participate, and see who can rack up the most runs over this time period. It's going to be a fun event that anyone and everyone can jump in on, and there's no minimum to the amount of runs you can submit either, so this should be a great opportunity to test games outside of your comfort zone.

There is a small adjustment to this run week as opposed to the previous event, which is, Full Game runs will be the focus of this event. The overall winner will be the user with the most full game submissions by the end of the week. Individual level submissions will still be tracked, and an honorary 1st place will go to the user with the most overall runs submitted.

What we do not allow: WE DO NOT ALLOW OR APPROVE OF SPAM SUBMISSIONS OF ANY KIND!!!! We will be tracking submissions for users competing in this event, so if we find any sort of spam, you will be removed from the event. We also do not prefer to have hoarding at the start of the event. We do have methods to catch hoarders, and if caught, will have those runs removed from the count.

I hope users here find interest in testing out some new genres of games over the week, and give the event a shot!

Curious as to why the pc port of Advanced Warfighter 2 doesnt include the x360 release?

I've seen this quite a few runs now, all on the mobile app. Does anyone know the cause of this "glitch", and if it's easy to reproduce?

Final question, from 90-100 grains:

When searching for a game disc on ebay, I noticed some of the listings say PAL, and others say NTSC. In regards to this game, is there any distinct differences between versions?

Now that the first round of beta features are released (which I'm for the most part, quite happy with), i have some questions and concerns I would like to bring forward.

It appears that a few of the issues reported in the beta, still made it into the full release, such as no way to toggle the new/old leaderboard (aka turning off game ordering) and platforms sometimes appearing twice. Since this is quite a small forum, and we often want to check possible bugs with each other, can we keep a sticky thread at the top of this forum, with a post by site staff containing known bugs/issues?

Second, what is the general timeframe of seeing additional beta features? While I personally will remain subscribed to supporter, I can imagine if new features aren't released soon, users will start to cancel their subscriptions. Now none of us want a rushed update, but is there a general timeframe we can see new features (few days, few weeks, etc)?

Thought I'd bring up a fun topic in #talk after the nonsense threads over the past few weeks.

If you guys have ever had these, there is no comparison (also most popular in my region).

Over the past 7 days, user @MinecraftGaming has given out 1.2k forum likes in an attempt to overthrow @Pear for the forum likes given world record. I would like to send a thank you to MinecraftGaming for giving out such a large amount of likes to so many users, but mainly because I want you to overthrow pear in likes given.

Hey everyone,

So recently as many of you have noticed, there has been an increase in accepted game requests over the last few months, through the support hub and series mods. This is really great for the future of speedrunning with these growing communities, but there need to be a change to the site to allow for these games to exist and have activity. I'm making this post to propose my idea of genre tags/filters being reimplemented into the site, as well as the current state of the unofficial tag (and why it should be modified).

There are over 26k leaderboards on the site now, and the only real way to discover games current is:

a ) The most active/runs page b ) The latest added games page c ) A friend or community member suggests a game

There are two big flaws with 2 of the 3 methods of discovering games that I mentioned. The most active games page tends to stay stagnant, which leaves many platforms and genres unnoticed to new users on the site. The latest added games page used to be useful, until the recent influx of accepted games. Now, a game is in the first page for no longer than a week before it's bumped off the page.

Here is my solution. Create a series of set and defined genre tags, similar to the platform tag, and allow these to be co-filters with platform tags. To be more specific, sub-genre tags may be a useful implementation as well. Here is an example.

Let's say a user is looking for a mobile racing game. Under the games page, they would first change the sort to android, followed by setting the genre to racing, and let's say, the user sets the sub-genre to "rally". This will give the user the exact results they are looking for, instead of sifting through game pages for hours.

Making sure there are set genres and sub-genres will be key, instead of user submitted text fields like was used in the past, and just like platforms, sub-genres could be requested through the support hub. It would also be highly advised for every game submission in the future to require genre and sub-genre tags, just like the platform tags.

This is a big problem with game discoverability as of now. Games that should be receiving this tag (roblox games, custom content, fan games) are not, and this is either due to series mods abusing the system for their games to be more accessible, or the user submitting the games are not checking the correct filter, for the same reason as stated above. There need to be stricter enforcement of what games receive this tag. On the other side, mobile and web games should be removed from the unofficial tag list, as these should really be reserved for low quality/low effort games (such as scratch), not a universal standard for every mobile and web game (and DLC content, but this is a case by case issue). Why does this matter? Games, such as roblox which have hundreds of games in their series, flood the android, PC, and other such platforms list, making it impossible to find true mobile and pc games.

Tl;dr there needs to be stricter enforcement of these tags from series mods, and site mods should also begin to look into this aspect more extensively.

I'm posting this thread to hear everyone's thoughts before making a support hub suggestion, so I'm curious what you all think of this idea, and its possible benefits to the future of searching games on SRC.

Recently, when I've attempted to play the game through steam, my game repeatedly has been crashing during start-up. I've removed + reinstalled the game, verified files, everything I can think of, yet my game still continues to crash. I'm able to play the game just fine through Xbox, so I'm curious if anyone else is having this issue with steam.

Hey everyone, so myself and a few others in the farming community have decided to put together an event to boost the activity of smaller, lesser known games on the site, as well games with empty categories. Over the course of this next coming week (December 19th-26th), we will be tracking the amount of runs which are submitted by users who decide to participate, and see who can rack up the most runs over this time period. It's going to be a fun event that anyone and everyone can jump in on, and there's no minimum to the amount of runs you can submit either, so this should be a great opportunity to test games outside of your comfort zone.

I hope users here find interest in testing out some new genres of games over the week, and give the event a shot. On the 16th, I will be posting a comprehensive spreadsheet of about 200ish games which consists mainly of categories under 3 minutes each. Some titles on this list include: the "Mini" series (most popular series for run grinders recently), Gravity box, Leps World and more, and will also consist of games across multiple platforms (and some emulator-supported games).

Now I'm not talking about verification queue, but personal pending runs queue. What is the most runs you've had sitting in there at a single time?

Example: the most runs I've had at once was 93 across 6 different games.

I ran into this weird glitch with Forge in an attempt earlier today, if this has the possibility to be made consistent, then it will save a lot of time.

I've looked through a lot of games on the site, and there are some universal rules I have come across that make zero sense, so I'm curious, what rules do other runners think are pretty useless that are fairly standard across games? I'll give an example:

I personally think requiring audio for mobile games that have built-in timers is completely useless. The audio adds nothing to the run that the timer can't show, and often times mobile runners can't record internal audio for games, which just severely limits the possible player base for the game.

Just curious if "sound is required" can be added to the game rules, as it's not in the rules as of now. My runs were rejected for this reason, even though it is not listed on the rules page
