You need to make a post here. Make sure you read the first post before posting yourself to make sure you and your situation meet the requirements.

Most people don’t memorize long runs fully, they make notes as part of the learning process. Then they use those notes to serve as a reminder of where to go and what to do. After many, many runs you might be able to memorize parts of the run, but the longer the run, the less people are likely to memorize fully. They just might not have to reference their notes as frequently.

It’s broadcasting software but it also locally records. Most broadcasting software does both.

I’m not sure you’re going to find anything in that price range unless your buy used or maybe refurbished. Or at least you might not find a trusted brand in that price range.

You’ll need to be around $80 USD or so for certain models from brands like Avermedia or Elgato, but $50 is just a little too low for something decent. Someone else might have other brands in mind, maybe some they are a bit cheaper but Idk if they’ll hit your price range.

Define “cheap”. The price range for HDMI capture cards is pretty big, so knowing your price goal would be helpful in recommending specific brands/models.

A video is a video regardless of whether it was live-streamed or recorded and uploaded to a video sharing site like YouTube.

You need to talk to the community of that game and find out how they’ve addressed the game post-DLC. Every game has different rules and different ways of dealing with that type of stuff. Also, the community will be the deciding factor in whether or not what you’ve described would be legal.

If you're looking to get a custom skin made, you probably would need to reach out to someone who makes them and see if they'll do a commission for you. As for that skin, if that's the one you want, just ask someone in the SM64 community and they should be able to provide it to you as long as they're willing to share the skin - no point in doing it yourself or having someone do it from scratch if you know what you want. That's a pretty popular skin for N64 and VC games so it's definitely out there (I would post a link to mine, but since I didn't create it I don't want to share it without the creator's permission).

Based on what you've described, and without knowing more about the game, it sounds like a dime a dozen webgame that will probably get denied based on the site's rules regarding games like that.

What consoles are allowed varies by community. You'll need to check the rules of the game you want to run, or you'll need to consult the mods of the game in order to see if they have anything that is explicitly banned or if they have any special rules regarding emulation.

In your case, you can find the LB for SMB3 here: https://www.speedrun.com/smb3

There you'll find the Rules for the categories, all of the mods, as well as the game specific forums where you can also ask questions to the community and the game itself. There is also a discord link if you'd like to join that to further talk with the members of the community.

That has been brought up before and the general consensus is that it’s not possible for a run to take zero seconds. Every run takes some time to do. If a game’s timing method is giving you a 0 second time, then you should probably use a different timing method to accurately capture how long the run is taking.

Well the game has a few runners for what it's worth: https://www.speedrun.com/one_piece_world_seeker

But I'm not sure what you mean by a "popularity problem". If you want a lively community, then you need to run very popular games. There's really not magic advice to make a game popular. Most popular games are older games that are well known (Zelda games, Mario games, etc) or games that are a part of a long running series (Souls games as an example). One off games that are obscure or are really new probably won't have big communities because that's just the nature of games like that - they haven't had time to develop.

If you really want to work towards making a game popular, well, it's a lot of work and isn't guaranteed to succeed. But you'll need to start with working with the existing community and building from there up. Get good runs, get good times, try and get the game into marathons that will expose it to a wider audience, those are all things that can help with bringing more attention to a game. But at the end of the day, people will run a game that they enjoy or that interests them and in some cases, a game will only appeal to a niche group of people.

If you're only interested in this hobby to get popular, well, then that's just the wrong mindset to take in my opinion. Nobody should enter this hobby trying to get popular because in this hobby - like streaming in general - very very few people actually become "popular" and bring in 1000s of viewers. Instead, you should just approach it with the goal of having fun and competing to better yourself and your times. That'll be the best way to both enjoy what you're doing and to improve your times in whatever game you choose to learn.

The SNES already outputs RGB natively, so a mod to do this is not necessary. You can capture it through SCART or through the component cables from HDRetrovision if SCART isn’t ideal for your setup.

I’m trying to understand what exactly you’re asking. Are you asking if games are faster on PAL or NTSC? Because that really matters for an individual game - PAL may sometimes be faster overall due to exclusive glitches or possible tricks, even though NTSC will always run at a faster frame rate.

If you’re asking about getting a native NTSC console or region modding a console to play NTSC games, that’s a bit trickier because I don’t know much about SMS. Assuming it’s close to a SNES, you’re better off actually getting an NTSC console as the region mod required to play NTSC games on a PAL system (and vice versa) is usually more expensive than just importing the console you need.

Finally, for what equipment you’ll need, I don’t have a lot of experience in that, but you’ll probably need a power adapter to handle the fact that NTSC and PAL take different voltages (I needed an adapter to play a PAL iQue here in the states for example). I’m not sure if that’s still needed nowadays but I wanted to mention it just in case. Most modern TVs I can imagine should be able to handle both signals effectively, but you’ll probably want some kinda upscaler to go from composite/SCART to HDMI unless you have a really low latency monitor/TV or you want to get used to console input delay.

I hope any of that helps or points you in the right direction.

They were approved before the "score based submissions" rule was put in place. Games are not retroactively removed to account for new rules.

This guide is a pretty good starting point: https://www.speedrun.com/streaming_recording_equipment/thread/qlnmy

I'd recommend reading through that as it will probably answer a lot of your questions. If you have additional questions after reading that, feel free to ask them and I'm sure someone will be happy to help further.

You need to ask these questions to the community for the game.

You can find a link to their forums and their discord server on the left hand sidebar on the page for the LBs.
