You're going to want to ask this in the forums of the game.

If the mods feel a need to frame count/retime in order to double check or in order to get the exact time, they will when they verify it, otherwise you'll be fine.

If you're talking about a mod verifying the run, just have patience. The mods will probably verify it once they get the chance to. There are a lot of active mods on that board so Im sure they'll get to it soon.

Since I see no rules defined for the game and since turbo is pretty standard in JRPGs, I gotta ask - are turbo controllers allowed?

And Antarctica wouldn't be nearly as strongly represented :p

Putting your location/flag is a personal thing, people choose to put the flag of the country/state they most identify with (see the recent discussion on the UK flag and the different countries that make up the UK) or they can choose not to put any flag for privacy reasons. Then you've got the people who just wanna joke around and have fun with their location.

Gotta ask the mods of the game, they can probably add/handle it accordingly. Try posting in the game forums with your request.

If you wish to become moderator for that game, post here https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/63nr7

Just make sure you read the OP to make sure you meet the requirements for posting (mostly related to trying to contact them first).

Direct message.

Essentially a private message on a site like Twitter, Twitch, Discord, etc.

Glad you figured it out.

If you don't mind me asking, what was causing it?

Livesplit tends to only lag when your CPU is under heavy load, GPU has little to do with it. I don't know what your CPU is like but check out the load on it when Livesplit starts to lag and see if it's high.

You can also try out WSplit. Although it's less customizable than Livesplit, it's less CPU intensive in my personal experience.

There's also no reason not to. It's just an icon lol. It has nothing to do with supporting or having an agreement with Twitch. I don't know how having your sub icon next to your name if you're a twitch partner is making the site look bad or giving anyone special treatment (special treatment would be if being a twitch partner got you priority in getting runs verified or something) because it's literally just a small picture and nothing more.

For a more direct answer that's hopefully less confusing - use the [QU OTE=UbuntuJackson] and [/QU OTE] tags without the spaces. Any text in between the two tags will be quoted. You can change the name to any user to get the "originally posted by" part. Omitting the =name part just gives you the quotes part without the name.
See, nice and quoted
If you're running a console game starting the timer and the run at the same time is easy - just hit your split key and whatever button on your controller you need to hit in order to start the run.

For PC games, you'll want to enable global hotkeys for your timer. This will allow key presses to work in the timer program even if the program isn't the program you're currently clicked on. This way it can run in the background and you can press two keys - one to start the timer and one to start the PC game.

Same goes for splitting, global hotkeys will allow you to split without being clicked on the timer.

Not sure I fully understand what happened since I've never requested a game myself (I'm sure someone else will probably understand more or be able to offer more insight), but just to make sure, was this the link you used to request a game?

Like I mentioned to you in the Phantom Hourglass forum - disallowing pausing the timer is not unique to certain games, it's a generally rule across RTA runs in all of speedrunning.

The only types of runs that allow you to pause the timer are segmented runs which aren't really tracked or run anymore. They were popular years ago and SDA might still track them, but the LBs on this site go by RTA rules unless a game has a segmented category (idk of any games in popular series that do off the top of my head).

While a mod is more than welcome to correct me, unfortunately, if you stop your timer and restart it, your run won't be accepted onto the LBs because it violates RTA rules. That goes for the majority of games that use RTA rules (which is most of them except maybe in very rare cases).

I meant any mods that just verify without paying attention (like SpiderSponge mentioned) are bad mods.

In this case yeah the mods are fine because the run had no video anyway so it wasn't clear what category it actually is without him clarifying.

Then those are bad mods.

Drakodan's post was assuming that the mods are actually doing their job.

AntarcticaTimmiluvs7 years ago

Yeah Poke makes a good clarification point - you're allowed to have multiple VODs due to something like a twitch blip or slight internet blip (which is most likely what TPHD and other boards allow) but you'd be hard pressed to find a LB that allows for a stopped timer which is what happened in your case.

Unfortunately that is speedrunning in general and isn't unique to this game - you can't stop/pause the timer and you need to have the run done in one sitting. That's just how RTA speedruns work and have always worked, otherwise the run becomes segmented which isn't really tracked anymore.

Don't give up speedrunning or be discouraged by this, instead, look for a game that can be done in the time that you have. Don't try to do longer runs if you don't have the time, start smaller and do some shorter runs. You can even still do the run split up, it just won't be tacked here on the LB (never give up on running a game or a category just because there isn't an LB for it or your run isn't on the LBs). Then once you have the ability to do longer runs of the full game in a single sitting, you'll be able to.
