If the 3DS version of this game is anything like the 3DS versions of other LEGO games, then the 3DS version will need its own leaderboard. As far as rules go, they would likely be the same or close to the same as the PC/Console versions.
Runners have called them that since at least early 2019. I don't know if "hostages" is an official term the game uses.
Some people blur the copyrighted portions and post that to YouTube while also uploading the unblurred version to Twitch. This is an example of that: https://www.speedrun.com/tlm/runs/yo0on7jy
Other people dispute the copyright claims saying that it's gameplay rather than the movie. This has resulted in mixed results where some win the dispute while others lose it.
Based on the number of runs in each category, it looks like Any% or the individual movie categories are good choices.
Even though there isn't a 1p1c category, you can still run it.
Although the category won't be added, that shouldn't stop you from running it.
Instead of the timer starting when you press start during the opening crawl, time now starts "when the full screen wipe after the text scrawl starts." This makes it a lot easier to retime runs. The difference is 1.03 seconds.
You will likely get help faster if you ask in the LEGO Speedrunning Discord server.
You're not the only one to think this way, but unfortunately you are in the minority here. Most LEGO speedrunners have accepted the 1p2c way of running. There have been some games that had (some might still have) a 1p2c variable, but those have mostly faded away.
The LEGO Series mods can add a leaderboard for the GBA version upon completion of a speedrun (assuming the GBA version is different from the PS2 and PC versions). Otherwise a category could be created for the GBA version on this leaderboard if that is how the game moderator, Zeeslag, wants to do it.
The only issue with ILs and IWs is that the levels themselves are difficult to speedrun since they're mostly autoscrollers.
Yes, emulator is allowed. The run Jojo is referring to used VBA 1.8.0b.
All emulators are banned with the exception of DeSmuME and melonDS (This includes RetroArch being banned).
There's a channel for LEGO Worlds in the LEGO Speedrunning Discord server. https://discord.gg/A28RuDm
You need to purchase all members of the Flying Dutchman. Here is a spreadsheet that lists all the goals, describes each goal, and tells you when you can mark a goal complete: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zAoDYuxnEB9gbzb7SxfemVnrKdl0zqdBLzmezC9iWG8/edit?usp=sharing
It would be preferred that the video only be of the IL. If that's too much work for you, you can submit the video with a timestamp just before the IL would start.
Runs performed on PC can be submitted to this leaderboard.
We are aware. It's also available for the DS, but since they are considered "portable" versions of the game, they do not appear on this leaderboard.
This game does not need a category extension leaderboard at this time.
