An introduction to Chicory speedrunning
Updated 1 year ago by Driko68

This is my introduction to Chicory speedrunning. I'm making it so that there's a guide for any Chicory players that would like to get into speedrunning the game, but don't know where to start. This is my first guide, so I apologise if anything is unclear!

First of all, there are a few things you should know about speedrunning Chicory.

・The "Skip Cutscene" keybind. It can be used to skip most of the cutscenes in the game, but also some other animations. You can skip: ・The intro cutscene ・Chapter introductions (Chapter 1, The Dark Forest) ・Most dialogue ・Room transitions ・Pick-up animations (The brush, Litter, Lost Kids, Gifts) You cannot skip: ・The brush tree cutscene ・Dialogue where you have to select a choice

・The "Skip Bossfight" option. This is a setting which allows you to skip every bossfight in the game, by going into the menu, and selecting "Skip Bossfight".

・The different categories are: ・Any%: Complete the game having completed any percentage of it. In Chicory, our goal is to defeat the corrupted brush and save the world. The "Skip Bossfight" option is allowed.

・Glitchless: You are not allowed to use any glitches.
           Any patch is allowed.
・Current Patch: All glitches are allowed.
Any patch that isn't 1.0 is allowed.
       ・1.0: All glitches are allowed.
Only the 1.0.0.49 or 1.0.0.50 patches are allowed.

・100%: Complete the game having achieved 100% completion. (In your inventory)
This includes all collectables, side-quests and most post-game missions.
The main problem with 100% is the RNG-factor; To achieve 100% completion,
you have to have all clothes. You receive some of them from NPC's.
One of these is Pistachio, who only appears sometimes, and can completely ruin
a speedrun. This is the reason for 100% only having two submitted speedruns.
The "Skip Bossfight" option is allowed.

      ・Glitchless: No glitches are allowed.
          Any patch is allowed.
・Current Patch: All glitches are allowed.
Any patch that isn't 1.0 is allowed.
・1.0: This leaderboard is completely empty, but the same rules apply:
          All glitches are allowed
Only the 1.0.0.49 or 1.0.0.50 patches are allowed.

・All BATs: Complete the game having defeated all bosses and completed all trials.
The "Skip Bossfight" option is NOT allowed. I would reccomend turning off the
option in the settings menu so that you don't accidentally skip a bossfight and
       ruin your run.

       ・Glitchless: No glitches are allowed.
          Any patch is allowed.
・Current Patch: All glitches are allowed.
Any patch that isn't 1.0 is allowed.
       ・1.0: All glitches are allowed.
Only the 1.0.0.49 or 1.0.0.50 patches are allowed.

  ・The IL (Individual Level) leaderboard.
This is a leaderboard where you can speedrun only an individual section of
Chicory. These sections are the ten chapters (Listed on the leaderboards as
chapters 1-5 and 10 & the four trials), and the "Bad End" category, in which you
refuse to pick up the brush in the first section of the game in Wielder Tower.
I wouldn't reccommend running "Bad End", because most of the speed comes
from quickly cleaning the room; doing this quickly can seriously strain and/or
injure your wrist. (Not exactly ideal)

I hope I didn't miss anything too important! If I did, you can DM me on Discord.
