Merge Hardware and Emulator?

Hey guys. I was thinking that we should we should merge the hardware and any % boards. I was worried that the interest would die down, and it seems to have done so. Currently, the 1st and 2nd places in Emulator are beating hardware, even though hardware is supposed to be an advantage. I think it would of needed to of been done eventually, but we pulled the trigger too early to our own detriment as a community. (personally, I left town for 2 months to see my newborn niece and now I'm starting a small keto coffee business, so I don't have much time these days.) This is a great game and I'd love to see this community grow more. Much love and happy running. ♥️

Honestly I think this should get addressed as far as emulation goes. I did a test with the EE Cycle rate setting and having it on 1 or 2 or hell even 3 if you have the beefy pc to handle that option lowers loading times for the start of the run for example. Not sure how it'll apply for the rest of the runs but it should be considered. With it at 0 the first cutscene starts at in the mid of 10 seconds. With 1 it starts in the mid of the 9 seconds. With 2 it starts at around 8 and at 3 it starts at 7. The loading for the menu after that to select the voice is faster as well. Anything else past that I have not tested unless you get faster loading times for going in rollins gym. Another edit: I've compared the xbox runs here to the ps2 emulation as far as load times go and it's no contest that Xbox hardware has the biggest advantage. Unfortunately there's no xbox emulator that can run the game.

in terms of merging my personal take on it is leave the Emu and console runs separate couple months back we as a community decided on that and we looked into load times on emu vs consoles and there really is no limit to emus cause you can have the best settings with a great high end pc and it will cut load times down even by a couple seconds and yes it may not seem like much but the little things adds up as for you Dr saying the interest seems to have died down i disagree originally when i wasn't super mod and before i made these changes we only had one run submitted in a year now after the old mods left and i became the super mod i started talking talking to what ever was left of the def jam community and made the changes you all wanted to see via community decisions ever since then we've gotten 8x the run submissions and more active runners and some new runners aswell remember we made this decision of splitting the emus and hardware's together and besides load times there are other factors emu have over hardwares like going into emu settings and messing around with shaders graphics basically anything really but this is my take on it i need more people to share their opinion on the matter before anything is final i cant just change or merge category's when only 1-2 players are saying too its gotta be overall runners

I'm confused as to how in the world not only shaders but also graphics would matter for emulation in the context of a game like this if they aren't even saving time to begin with for runs. Another edit: If we included Ps2 and gamecube real hardware there's no debate that emulation beats those no doubt but xbox hardware hands down beats emulation at the moment.

I guess I was just looking from my own perspective. 😅🤦‍♂️ I jumped the gun on jumping the gun. 🤣

Alex, If you ever do implement a difficulty category I have a run here ready for submission. Just about 10 minutes longer time wise than the one I did on easy. It's a more annoying easy mode cause man this A.I in some parts just sit there and will fight back.
