PAL is locked at 50fps NTSC is locked at 60fps.
This means that PAL runs are slower than NTSC by about 17%
@PeterAfro Do a left strafe walk into the corner and then jump while holding left and forward. This is the most consistent way although it's not guaranteed.
Why are you using PSXfin in the first place? Just use ePSXe, Mednafen, or Xebra. Almost every PS1 board on this site uses those 3 and bans all the others. Just see this as a learning experience for how things generally work on this site.
EDIT: Just looked at the games you run. I suspect you're going to say "Well Medievil let me do it". Yeah that's because the boards are separate for that game. When you have a board that compares emulator to console, you need balance in place to prevent an unfair playing field.
I know this is probably a loaded question but I want to make an informed decision before I buy one.
I'm fairly sure Cyberdemon would allow it. She allowed the command line option "-mpeg" to disable cutscenes which is more severe than what this is here.
I think you can just have the Dreamcast subcat be named "DC" and not "DC console/emu" because that looks kind of ugly no offense. You can specify in the rules about emulator.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. N64 emulators remove so much lag that it makes it incomparable to console. The same thing happened just recently with Toy Story 2. Emulator saved over a minute just on lag alone.
Great work, man! Now there are only 2 more things to look into. For some weird reason, Tumble's loads seem to differ variably from Ruff's. For example, the very first loading screen takes 2 more seconds with Tumble. I haven't tested any other screens but CavemanDCJ used Tumble for his runs so I guess we have a reference. Also, there is the concern of lag. For example, in Witch Way Woods, When you enter the room with 4 doors (One of them has a Ninja box), there seems to be intense lag. Not to mention when you beat Crab and the Final Boss. Their destruction animations cause mega lag. This can be reduced by going into first person mode and looking away from the explosion so it's not relevant. A 90k PS2 might reduce all lag but it would be sad if we had to buy a whole new console just to compete with emu.
Look out fuckers. Big dick Buzz Lightyear is in town ready to fuck shit up with his mangum opus Toy Story 2 for the PS1/PC/N64/Dreamcast. Not all mortals can handle Buzz's gift from the Gods. Click at your own risk https://www.speedrun.com/toys2

Since this game has so much random category potential, I think there should be a category extensions board made for this game. And then every wacked out idea can have a place.
There is a command line option called -mpeg which removes the FMVs during runtime. Can this be allowed? It's allowed in the Toy Story 2 community. It would save maybe a second per FMV.
I don't even know if what I'm proposing even makes sense. I want to be able to mute the game so I don't hear it but OBS still picks it up. For example if I want to watch something while speedrunning, it doesn't pick up the show I'm watching. Sorry if I sound retarded with this question.
I just recently binged through all 3 seasons of Mr Robot in 5 days. It was one of the most addicting shows I'd ever watched. It was a similar feeling that I got to watching Breaking Bad. I'm just wondering if there are any thrilling shows like that. Ones that make you want to see the next episode through suspense.
I'm pretty sure you can beat the game without butt bouncing once. Try that out.
I've been following this for months. The PC "port" is just emulation. So we would count it as such. Also the N64 PAL version was leaked 10 years ago. This one Piko Interactive has apparently is NTSC though I don't know how different the glitches will be. If you want to see my speedrun of the N64 version you can check out my channel. It's less than 4 minutes long.
I think having a "Pay To Win" scenario is better than having emulator be the norm. Almost in every case, boards that exclusively use emulators are shunned. If this game does grab the attention of a larger runner, mark my words you will be constantly ridiculed about banning FDS. What then? I think you need to look into the future of this game.
Bregermann, a fairly recent runner, tried out FDS and it crashed when loading the main hub.
