you're right, didn't see this til now
It's gone through several phases of being active and inactive. Weirdly enough, once someone starts running again, other people jump back into it again.
Hey, I'm personally too busy to keep the Kenshi speedrunning at the forefront of my attention. If either of you want moderator to fix what you have issues with I'll just give it. The community's so small that I see no harm in just handing it out to those who care.
I'll add it.
I also am trying to just push for people to use the hardcore gamemode I added in Defeat because it's the exact same as Limited besides no reloading, stop action, and in-game timer. I think I'll remove no reloading from Hardcore because it would make this near impossible (I'll add a note that using it to exploit, intended or not, isn't allowed).
If you want to list all of the kings and queens for me then I'll add it.
About the plastic surgeon glitch, I would not consider them killed. They were never killed nor imprisoned by an enemy faction, they were deleted (haven't actually seen that till now and it's kind of interesting). I considered using the in-game modding tools to delete people (as well as using reload exploits to delete people) as a way of killing them and decided it was probably a bad idea, and I think this is very similar.
I don't want this to sound like a gotcha, but I also don't necessarily know if leaving them in a dying state should be considered dead, although I don't think that's something I've thought about enough (or others have) in order to say that it's not fair to do that. If it were a run of killing a singular person (or last person you're killing) I'd probably call this bad as they aren't dead yet. If you're hunting down 15 people I can't necessarily say they wouldn't have died if you left them in an area that they have no chance of being recovered either as a slave or by their own people.
Sorry didn't have power for a few days and meant to respond to this; I am open to adding anything that people want to try, just want a clear fleshed out idea is all.
I don't believe changing the multipliers will honestly make the runs any faster, just more impressive if they're harder (especially in smaller runs because you have to be a lot more consistent), although I'm not against adding a harder multiplier category so people can try and play heavily disadvantaged.
idk what randomly drives these boosts in speedrunning but glad you all are having fun
I also think I'm going to start pushing for everything longer than a few minutes to just be recorded with the in-game timing system because I kind of think it was a mistake to just format them all the same. Shorter runs make a lot of sense to use real world time because the death speed runs take 2 seconds, but getting all bounties would take a lot longer and would have a lot of loading time.
Yea I'll go ahead and add all bounties to the list, but I will say I had that one and others available for a long time and no one attempted them. Does that mean I should have necessarily removed them? I'm not sure because I could've just let them sit and it'd of probably increased the chances of someone trying them.
Hey I'm not against adding any category at all. Just tell me that you want it and I'll add it. Anything new that I'm adding I'm trying to do with the in game timer so we can do that and it'd allow you to pause and break (also not doing in game time only adds mere seconds). Just tell me if you want me to add something.
I've seen starting after the character first loads on the map. I'll clarify it.
Also if a run is not following the rules correctly just tell me and I'll fix it. I could (but don't have the time to watch) everyone's run and notice their errors, so just tell me if you see something.
Also I'll just state here for clarity later, if it's unintentionally a wrong time and someone tells me I'll just reject the run, so they can fix it later if they want.
Yea, I'll make resetting positions and imports not allowed. I still think reloading should be allowed, but I don't know how to word it to say "don't rapidly do it in order to despawn everything" in a more concise way.
I am kind very mixed on save-scumming. On one hand, it still makes you lose some time and prevents you from potentially doing the same thing on repeat, but it also makes the game easier and if the purpose of not changing any setting is to make the game "normal" it kind of defeats the point a bit.
Okay, I've decided for now on Limited/Unlimited as sub-categories (I can change it whenever if someone comes up with a better description).
I think you're right in specifying runs more as editor/no editor instead of how I have it. I've also had the same problem with it being incredibly difficult to name what each category means because it's so broad.
I also think though, a lot of the things that lofi games set as rules for speedrunning were really odd and poorly thought out, and while I agree that I'd like to have a more thought out rules list, I don't think that exactly what they set is a good precedent.
I will try and think of a more sound editor/no editor or whatever it will be called set of rules and apply it to all. If you have anything to add just say it here.
By the way, the one using the chair thing in the egg hunt was me. Also, did someone post the speedrun community recently or something? There has been an influx of attention here.
I also think I could just add two different egg hunt categories, one like the event and one not.
Okay, I made an announcement with a poll for opinions on this.
I was thinking about this, but I’m kind of unhappy with their ruleset like no reloading and load time not being removed. If people want to voice their opinions here on that I’ll add it once a more clear ruleset it made (or if people want how it currently is set up with no reloading, etc. I could just do that).
On the subject of this community, I’m probably going to edit the subcategories to add a no teleport option to let people who want longer runs actually a chance.
