Awesome man, i’m glad. That disk is too expensive and that screen is not 240p enough on GBP haha

Whatup all folks! I sure each game has it’s own rules pertaining to this, but i just want to see the general consensus: is GBi allowed for speedrunning in most scenarios? It’s using nintendo’s hardware, and it’s not emulation, it just looks WAY better and does not require a disk to use. Do most GB, GBC and GBA allow for use with GBi?

Found the issue, 3rd party wii power supply was affecting video signal! Which is bizarre but hey it works now lol

Hello chaps! So i finally got my streaming setup for older gen consoles, and the CRT i got works great for my n64/SNES, but with my Wii, the picture quality is far worse. There is mildly noticeable picture noise that is white, as well as horizontal fuzz bars that travel up the screen at a slowish rate. I’ve played with cables, verified my Wii is fine by trying it on my HDTV, and done all sorts of cable troubleshooting. My setup is as follows:

Wii>RCA A/V switch box> RCA powered duplicater splitter> RF modulator > RCA ColorTrak 13” tv.

My only hunch is that my RF modulator is having trouble? I mean it works fine with my n64 and SNES. I’ve tried going straight from my Wii to the RF modulator and it’s a tiny bit better but not by much. Any ideas?

Haha agreed. A nerd’s habits (in moderation) i feel end up less expensive and more rewarding than many other habits.

Absolutely man I agree! And since the genesis of this post, i actually have become a rather active streamer and speedrunner now. This being because i have incorporated my stream into my family time. If you watch my stream you’ll see that unlike most streamers, i’m chilling with my family at the same time i am doing runs and such. I’m pretty lucky because my wife (who is rad as all heck) actually likes me streaming/speedrunning better as opposed to my normal PC gaming habits haha. This is because i am able to interact/get up and help with the kiddo alot easier in general.

Certainly for cutscenes. In another video this same guy mentions taking those break times to run your hands under warm water as well, which i’m going to try tonight. Also, lol for whatever ideas you may have hatched @IceShadow92

Hey folks! This weekend i found myself having some troubles with my runs and i found that it was due to not warming up my fingers/wrists in general. I found this video and i thought it might be helpful to share, because it’s helped me pretty well so far in my runs!

Does anyone here have any pre-run warmups besides the ones shown here?

Edit: Just realized the title on this post is all jacked up, it's supposed to be: "Hand/Wrist Warmups & Exercises"

Hey everybody! Been following speedrunning for a while and finally decided to join the community. Gonna be working on Sonic Adventure DX for my first game, so if you care to watch you can find me on Twitch with the same handle here: Blinkdor. I stream pretty inconsistently because i have a small family in tow, and during my streams they usually hang in the background and look cool. If you are into those types of things, than ya know, watch that stuff. Anywho, hello in general!

@Eggwink My wife is a fellow nerd, but of course not to the degree I am. She knows the ins and outs of what it’s all about so she will be able to manage baby things when i need to do a run. Of course, the amount of time i will have to do runs is of course up to whatever priorities we have otherwise.

Friends, i have been watching speedruns and loving the communitity ever since I discovered it a few years ago. I have been an avid gamer since childhood (mostly Nintendo related gaming) and speedrunning seems like such an attractive way to set and meet goals in an environment I love. However, i have a job, and a kid, and a family. The time that i get to spend gaming, i spend it gaming with my brothers online (PC mostly, playing the latest what-have-yous of PC gaming), and the other time i spend with family. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so i have a great desire to become a savant at the game i wish to speedrun! Therefore when i get in the mindset of learning a speedrun, i get dicsouraged that i will need to invest some time if i’m to get anywhere to my level of satisfaction. I feel the easy answer is to just choose an easy, short game, and that is probably what I will do in the end. But this post is more of a curiosity for other Dads/parents out there- how do you fit speedrunning into your schedule?
