I know the update literally just came out, but if it doesn't exist already it'd be cool to see an "all areas" run for the new update, including every single section in the game. I.e. Backdoors -> Hotel -> Archives -> Hotel -> Outdoors -> Mines -> Stairwell -> Mines.
This was added before Outdoors and was quickly removed due to lack of runs submitted. Even more so due to the sheer length.
That's fair tbh, I'd love to run it, personally, but I'd also hate to review it, personally. I've never done speedrunning in my life but I WOULD be willing to singlehandedly moderate the category if that's at all an option, I sort of just want an excuse to run it.
The problem is not reviewing the runs its that it would be very luck based since you need 2 skeleton keys and u can only guarantee 1 skeleton key for each run at the hotel jeff shop.
Supposedly you can guarantee it now in the archives, I dunno if it's true, since I plan to test it in a bit, but there's a way to pretty much always get a duplicated skeleton key by looking into a mirror and summoning portrait while in the Archives. Although I guess you can't always guarantee the mirror either, but it's severely better odds than getting 2 skeleton keys naturally.
@morphling_ Archives, Outdoors, Stairwell. Minimum 2 skeleton keys for 3 skull locks
after figuring strategies out, i would like to chip in and say it's likely quite possible to achieve such feat, albeit, quite difficult to pull off.. while yes you only guarantee just one skeleton key in the hotel through Jeff's shop, our good buddy Louie can help with trying to get a secondary skeleton key if you attempt trading, for example: a lotus, a crucifix, or a starlight jug for it (more info on Louie's wiki page for his trades). so, the verdict? yes, it is likely possible, and will be something i definitely will be trying to achieve myself.
it was brought to my attention that there's actually an EASIER way to get another skeleton key.. if you activate Portrait, especially in the Archives, you'll be able to grab Portrait's skeleton key and basically double it very easily, allowing you to have enough skeleton keys for an entire DoorsVerse/All Areas run.
Welcome to the fourth article of the newsletter; Apologies for the big delay since the last one but hopefully things will speed up from now on. this time we have so much to cover so bare with me.
