Why is all POVs required? It seems a bit far-fetched and not a lot of people have good pcs to record onto yet want to speedrun. This rule seems far-fetched and unfair to the new people who want to speedrun but don't have good recording quality for the run they plan to do. Examples are Duo Trio and Squads. Also, I have noticed that on 5+ players that 1 POV was submitted yet was approved. This yet again proves my point.
yeah i agree, but for the 5+ player thing on shop you used to be able to submit runs with just 1 pov they just recenlty changed it
all povs are required because the other people could possibly use exploits (like fullbright, esp, etc.) and the 5+ players run was submitted before the rule change
It still seems unfair because what if you don't have a good pc for recording said footage? Even though you aren't exploiting lets say. @Saveed Could you at least consider this change? Because all POVs is just not fair since most people like me don't have the money to buy gaming pcs to record our footage.
I feel like it's difficult for me to respond here but I will anyway since my run was with r3d. I understand where both Saveed and r3d are coming from, with Saveed being concerned about exploiters and r3d being concerned about performance issues. It's also tough to compromise; not recording POVs could definitely help people on lower-end devices but could also be abused by exploiters. In other games I have submitted speedruns for in the past (Notoriety), they didn't require all POVs, but its also a lot easier to catch someone cheating and client sided exploits are almost useless or are extremely obvious. I'll admit that I originally didn't want to do the speedrun and had no prior experience with the game (clearly visible with the fact I hadn't ever gotten past round 50 or gone past the eyes), but r3d said he needed a cameraman because he has a lower performing machine, so I (somewhat grudgingly) stepped forward. Now seeing that all POVs are required, but for good reason, it makes it kinda hard to voice my opinion on whether or not all POVs should be required. TL;DR: recording causes performance drops (even for me I noticed slightly worse performance) but I can also understand why all POVs would be wanted.
Although I'm a primarily Solo player, I feel like keeping exploiters and hackers out of the leaderboard are a must. We'd want to reduce the chances of anyone who used a client or exploit to make its way up to the top, giving them an unfair advantage, while everyone who played legitimately suffer because of it.
Even though it would be nice for the performance boost, I feel like the priority needs to be keeping potential problems out. It's not fair to every speedrunner in this game if hackers can play and nobody knows about it, while it's only unfair to some speedrunners if you can't handle recording.
Weighing the positive and negatives, It's much more beneficial to have all POV's rather than only one, because not only will there be complaints or theories that somebody cheated, but it only raises the likelihood of it actually being the case.
To be honest, I agree with r3d about this but returning to saveed fact, he's also right about it since people with a poor machine can now be able to record. ( considering if they can be able to play doors with the lowest graphic / 30 fps+ I have already tried using a poor-performance PC and laptop on the game with windows recording feature aka game bar and it's working pretty much fine. For Windows 7 I have tried using bandicam which is pretty popular for those low-spec machines and yeah it's still fine with that. This is based on my opinion and my experience with using any kind of machine to speedrun with.
@HowToKenny I see your point, but I can't use gamebar or bandicam because my WIndows is a Generation 1 Pro. So I have the worst quality of my laptop.
as long as at least one person in the run uses a screen recorder, you could just point a phone or camera at your screen as long as you can make out the details on screen
Welcome to the fourth article of the newsletter; Apologies for the big delay since the last one but hopefully things will speed up from now on. this time we have so much to cover so bare with me.
