I don't have the skill, time or money to replace or clean my 3ds R switch.

Would it be permissible for me to use a cheat code to use the X button instead?

I doubt you can remap buttons like that in-game, and it being allowed in the first place, but you can always run these categories on emulator. Alternatively you can dedicate yourself to No-R :)
