Former WR - 0:06:000
Finally got the sub-6 after days of on-and-off grinding. I said it was inevitable in my last run and wanted this for a while, so I had to try again. I thought about leaving the 6-second flat time because I was inconsistent until yesterday, but I consistently got sub-6:10 times during today's session and the midnight one.
While brainstorming how to squeeze out 10ms, I tried hitting the wall on the left before the turn to get a quicker turn, and pressing B on the turn instead of boost tapping to make it more consistent. None of that worked.
The key is actually to keep long tapping the boost during the turn even though it can be a bit inconsistent, and move the truck's angle a bit to the left. Approaching the bus a bit wide helps with the turn of course, so there's enough room and you can get a tighter turn.
Boost tapping helps do the turn quicker and gives a direct angle for the straightaway when done on the turn exit properly.
There is almost no margin for error. Everything has to be perfect. I say almost because almost every single run which is a great time like a low 6.0 is visually different for some reason. You can technically clip the ramp off the bus part for a faster turn setup and nick the respawn boundary car on the tight turn, but this run was good for the strats I did. I clipped the car during the turn but it didn't affect my forward momentum; it actually seemed to help it.
My other best times of the final session were 6:02 and 6:01. The old WR was 6-flat, saving frames is really difficult even with these strats.
