Do we need to have splits in when we speedrun? I mean can't we just have a timer that counts from when we start the game until we get to the ceremony? (with Wsplit or Livesplit) or does that not count? :)

you don't need splits, having splits just helps other runners and if you look in the submit section there is no ¤ by the split field
