I am new to speedrunning. I would love if some people could help me out on what game to start speedrunning with. I have a Nintendo switch but I do not know how to record or to put the timer thing on the side. I would really love some help thanks!

This guide is a pretty good starting point: https://www.speedrun.com/streaming_recording_equipment/thread/qlnmy

I'd recommend reading through that as it will probably answer a lot of your questions. If you have additional questions after reading that, feel free to ask them and I'm sure someone will be happy to help further.

Run desertbus. Good for beginners.

The advice I give everytime is to speedrun a game that you love. It's not an obligation, but I think it helps getting the determination to start training and not getting bored of the game too quickly. I think it's weird to buy a game only to speedrun it for example, even though some don't. I think speedrunning should be an expansion of your experience with a game, like if there's a game you played so many times you don't have anything left to do with it but you love it anyway, try to run it! It will most certainly bring you a bunch of new sensations and even some you had when you played it for the first time, cause speedrunning is a completely different gaming experience than casual playthroughs. It's a great way to find new potential to a game you thought you were done with.

Well that's how I do it at least :)

@burbigo1 Desert Bus is a driving simulator and isn't a game that could be speedrun.

Given that there is a TAS "speedrun" of desert bus which takes 8 hours, I'm pretty sure it was an ironic suggestion.
