@RefiaFarron I will get these added shortly
Feel free to check out the discord for updated notes on when i add or remove things, i have just restructured a massive amount of the boards so i am once again open for suggestions
I had an idea for what might be a more niche category related to the MSQ run that would, hopefully, breath some new life into MSQ runs.
I call it "Employment%". I've also played around with "Get A Job."
Take your current ruleset for ARR MSQ: No premades, no mailbox/marketboard support. However, this run has two changes to it:
- Instead of finishing at the end of ARR Patch 2.55 quest "Before the Dawn," it would end after completing the quest "The Ultimate Weapon," at the end of base ARR. This change is designed to make more runs more accessible (ie: shorter), and eliminate a handful of Hard Trials/Alliance Raids that cannot be utilized with the Duty Trust system, giving greater breadth of alternate routing options for players. And,
- Require the completion of at least one base ARR Level 50 Job Quest series. This means have the job stone AND complete the capstone quest with all abilities. This change gives greater impact to those who continue to use group content to get through the dungeons, shifting much of the burden of those dungeons back onto the runner themselves, smoothing out the otherwise rough ups and down variables of that group content.
With these changes, there open up different routing opportunities depending on which class and job a runner will pursue, routing and weaving those together with the base ARR quests, and doing so in a way that makes logical sense. Additionally, the ONLY content that cannot be done via Duty Trusts - with the elimination of patch content - are the three MSQ roulette dungeons, which historically have lower queue times. This expands the competitive environment.
A thought I've tossed around while submitting my first official MSQ time and finding things to eliminate in my own runs, but something that I think would make more MSQ runs more accessible and, perhaps, more popular.
Could we do All Dungeons by Expansion? "All Dungeons ARR, All Dungeons HW" etc, etc.....same for trials and normal raids
@PapaDusk This already is in a thing, when you go into all dungeons or trials you are asked to provide what expansion it is from :)
is there a verifier submission form? would love to become a verifier, I know alot of speedruns, and stuff although I don't run FFXIV myself.
I will keep your name down for consideration, we prefer people who know the content well and can spot discrepencies but will atleast note your interest down
I can absolutely learn ! i do not mind taking the time out of my day to learn about what would make them non verifiable
I was just scrolling through the IL leaderboards and noticed that a handful of Unreal trials are listed. I feel like those should be removed considering they are temporary content and the old ones are impossible to play today. There's no way for anyone to compete in those categories outside of the few months when that specific Unreal is available.
Correct, i will likely remove them as i am going through the board right now to fix the messes that have been left
The mods are probably already aware of this, but just calling it out for visibility: it looks like all of the level leaderboards are sorting by real time instead of IGT by default, but a lot of runs don't have a real time listed so they're getting shifted down in the leaderboard even when they're faster. For example most of the ARR Synced Dungeons have WRs by magellen's group, but their faster times are showing as like 3rd or 4th on the leaderboards because they're being sorted below slower runs that happen to have the real time field filled out. This seems like a mistake and it makes it hard to see who has actually run a given dungeon the fastest.
There's a lot of content that just doesn't have an ingame timer too, so you have to rely on frame timing, autosplits, or just the difference on the instance timer. Its a real mess.
Whatever the mods want to run with though, they need to be verifying them with corrections based on how that content is recorded. Since none of these are listed in the game/category rules at all, it's unsurprising there are new entries that just don't have any regard for it
Also we can remove the Synced category for Variant & Criterion Dungeons. The references to 'Undersized Party' in the appropriate category rules should also be replaced as this is no longer referenced in the game at all, now being marked as 'unrestricted party'
Luna's been going through and correcting the times single handedly. Its a slow boring task to get through but they are being sorted.
- we've been nagging about the msq rules.
I will chime in with thse things quickly
So primarily it is me doing alot of the work by myself, we do have other moderators that are sadly not as active as i am and thats okay. so let me do my best to answer points placed here
- Referencing the IL going by time not In game time -- This i am aware of, unfortunately from what i can see Speedrun.com doesnt have a way for to change default timing per category. HOWEVER i have been slowly going through almost 5000 runs BY MYSELF and correcting ones that have RTA time there instead of In game time, naturally this is taking a hwile as its just me doing it hence why there is still some times that arent fixed yet, so far i have done Solo and Duo and these alone took me almost 9 hours of time to do alone @Zanador
- @Maho Similar to the above i cannot remove a category for only certain duties without making our boards even more messy than they already are, I have looked into this, However the Undersized Party i have gone ahead and changed
- Regarding the MSQ rules they HAVE been updated as far as i was aware but i will double check
Sadly there is only so much i can do so please do keep letting me know anything i have missed and ill do my best to correct it but please do understand i am just one person. Feel free to message me in the FFXIV Speedrunning Discord
Thanks,
Lunamile
Heya! Would it be possible to have separate categories on the leaderboard for "All Dungeons" based on main patch instead of expansion? Eg. "All Dungeons (2.0)", "All Dungeons (3.0)", etc. Sorting by expansion tends to just about double the amount of dungeons required for that category by including dungeons added in patches (eg. for Dawntrail: Mistwake, Meso Terminal, etc.), and a category that sorts instead by main patch will allow for snappier runs compared to doing all dungeons from an expansion. Since the dungeons added in a main patch don't tend to change, it also means that the category for per-main patch runs can be added before the patch cycle concludes (in other words: you could add an "All Dungeons (7.0)" right now, without waiting until the Dawntrail patches conclude).
Hopefully this all makes sense! I'm trying to get back into running FFXIV after a rather long hiatus and thought it'd be neat to get into running All Dungeons since I like doing dungeons, but the overall run length of All Dungeons (ARR) versus the proposed All Dungeons (2.0) is a bit intimidating. I appreciate any consideration this suggestion gets!
EDIT: I just realized I posted this same suggestion... Nearly 7 years ago LOL. Worth a revisit, maybe?
Hai there, sorry for the delay, unfortunately our boards are already massive and we have to be very particular on how much we add, while i do appreciate that it would be neat to have it by main patch however based on data of our runs we have seen, most people dont actually attempt to run all dungeons or all trials until things become solo'able which at that point all the dungeons/trails for the patch have been released
I will take oyur suggestion on board and still discuss it with the other admins and we will see if we can find a sort o f middle ground
In regards to the below announcement, I will be going through and fixing over 2000 runs on the leaderboard to match these new timings, please bare with me
IL Leaderboards for Solo Duties have been fixed
IL Leaderboards for Duo Duties have been fixed
**IL Leaderboards for Cooperative D
