F.E.A.R. has a bad and random tendency of giving the players a disconnect bug at the end of certain levels, notoriously Flight and Urban Decay. To fix this, you'd typically have to drop your Texture Resolution in-game setting to either Minimum or Medium, however it's important to mention that even with that setting set to either of these two, you can still get the disconnect bug, which is annoying af. And to properly fix all of this, I'd recommend patching your game using the 4GB patch in this resource.
All it does is increase the amount of possible allocated virtual memory to the game, because by default F.E.A.R. can't use more than 2GB of virtual memory, and if that happens you can also get an "Out of Memory" error which is really repulsive. The 4GB patch ensures that you NEVER get the disconnect bug ever again. Fortunately, the patch itself doesn't affect anything else inside the game (i.e. AI behavior, gameplay etc.)
(25/11/2025) EDIT: It turns out that it's still possible to get a disconnect bug with Texture Resolution set to Maximum. So it is advised to have that setting set at either Minimum or Medium. I'm happy to report that I got 0 disconnect bugs with the Texture Resolution set to Medium ever since I used this patch.
(24/03/2026) EDIT: As it turns out, it's still possible to get a disconnect bug with Texture Resolution set to Medium, however I'm not sure about the Minimum setting. One thing worth noting is that the patch itself did make the disconnect bug become mega rare, and a word of advice is that you shouldn't spam any inputs during loading screens. Once the loading is fully done, only then you can press any key to continue and get in-game.
