During my 8 months of grinding for the world record in this category, I had a fire inside me that I thought wouldn't go away as long as I maintained it. But things are never eternal.
During this grind I played through the DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations DLC. You should play it too. Anyways, spoilers, the story follows the DOOM Slayer who is defeated by the Henchman but comes back with a righteous heart, a sound mind and purpose, and an unbreakable will to defeat the Henchman afterwards. I'm not going to lie, deep into the DLC grind, I teared up when I was re-fighting the Henchman in the eyes of the DOOM Slayer. It solidified my will to go on in DLC and I felt a resurgence in my desire to get the world record.
But when the world tells you to give up and stop trying, sometimes you have to listen. I am not the DOOM Slayer after all.
With this 10:20 I intend to wrap up my journey in Cuphead Speedrunning as a whole. Thank you to everyone who was in my chat or voice call at some point in my grind for the world record. You guys helped shape the iron-willed speedrunner that believed so solemnly in his ability back then.
My journey may be over, but my legacy and will still carries on in the shape of all my students. As I always said, my greatest achievement in this game are not the times I achieved. It is the impact I've had. So many great runners grew under my care that I am proud to call top runners.
I will now enjoy my deliverance from the game in peace.
