Runs can be random and unnecessary, but I feel that these reasons cannot be enough to show that Sir_Farcelot was a cheater. At least, look at his other runs. Being a TASer doesn't mean that you will TAS your runs. Anyways, thanks @speeeedy for at least looking at the topic
@CAKEC0DER no, it doesn't, however sir farcelot's do, which is impossible, causing me and others to believe his runs were tassed.
Ok, so I previously thought that Sir Farcelot couldn't possibly be defended. But I found a minor discrepancy in programminguy's methodology. See, floating point implementations is dependent on the JS engine used. Note this is implementation we are discussing so the same mathematical computations could lead to different results in different browsers. So when Appel is moving on programminguy's machine, it might arrive at the flag earlier due to these differences. Although these differences are extremely minor, so I would suspect maybe one frame or so of difference between when Appel on Sir_Farcelot's machine touches the winning flag and when Appel on programminguy touches the winning flag.
Now I have a question for you @speeeedy At what time does Sir Farcelot's replay code let go of all the inputs. Is it above 15.2?
He let's go of the inputs at 15.36. He posted it as a 15.2 and it ran on my computer as a 15.26. If it were that my computer ran the replay differently than it would mean that sir farcelot's run was at least actually a 15.36. this wouldn't make any scene because he would have posted it as that. Also most of the runs just held the up and right keys after the last jump so their last inputs were at like 14 seconds.
Oh so he is screwed. Even floating point can't save him.
First, I understand I am obviously biased against the argument that @sir-Farcelot cheated, so I just wanted point out some things and not try to impose one belief upon you all:
-
@Sir_Farcelot is a very experienced player who obviously (at least used to) really enjoys playing this game. I have done collabs and small competitions with him through scratch- and you could chalk his interactive presence on scratch as a cover for his cheated runs, but that's just confirmation bias. And becoming more popular is not a good idea for a taser who doesn't want to be exposed.
-
To expand on that, a taser trying to cheat in appel would be very stupid to post tases on their youtube channel or their scratch account. I do not intend to be uncivil, but perhaps some of this argument is confirmation bias against @Sir_Farcelot. A taser would attempt to look like they have no experience with tasing at all- and @Sir_Farcelot is a teenager in high school, not a young child unaware they are building evidence against themselves.
-
I will admit i have very little experience with code, either on scratch or anything else, but I do know that @Sir_Farcelot uses turbowarp for level 5, which may have an affect on something (?)
-
For the point about not doing YA% or any of the other categories, he's literally cleared all of the aa levels until he quit the game and tased a few of them, so that doesn't really make sense.
-
Lastly, @Sir_Farcelot's youtube channel has been around for over two years. Appel is not his first game. He obvioulsy has experience with speedrunning and gaming in general.
I hope this helps provide some insight and background about @Sir_Farcelot. If you have any questions or arguments, I may check this page for a few days and then disappear again forever into the endless studies of high school. :)

I personally completely agree with you, however I see no reason for the replay codes to be so different from every other runner's. I would have thought anyone who accused sir farcelot of cheating was crazy and just being mean. I would never have accused him of cheating unless I was sure he did. I do find all of your points valid and am a bit confused about some of them. I really would prefer it if we could somehow know for sure if sir farcelot is actually cheating, whether that be him showing like a hand cam and a long session at a high level or just an admission. I do know that your turbowarp point is not valid, as I and many others have used it with no issues and also turbowarp doesn't change anything about how the math works in scratch. I really hope sir farcelot can just give proof that he's innocent and maybe an explanation of why these anomalys are happening. Sorry is this message is a bit messy, I'm on vacation and typing this on my phone.
I had no idea what turbowarp might do and have no experience with the mathand code behind replays. Unfortunately, @Sir_Farcelot will probably not try to film evidence or try to resolve the issue.
Ok yes, we've seen "repetitive inputs before". . .
But we've also seen them on basically every single person who was ever investigated. That includes Michael, Swskrei, and a few others. (no shade) The more precise and difficult these runs get in the community, the more evidence we need from the runners that they aren't fake. I feel like it is totally realistic to ask top runners to record handcam footage. . . Maybe people below the top 5 in any category don't need to be verified or something like that.
I also think that swskrei brings up a good point about how @Sir_Farcelot clearly has experience speedrunning other games.
The only thing that makes me scratch my head is the fact that there is input after the run.
@DubleSpratt this is not true. The only people who have perfectly repetitive inputs on level 5 (the only level with a section this long that can be mesuted this way) are sir farcelot and Michael. Neither sw nor anyone else had this issue in their level 5 runs. I looked at every level 5 runs I could find and made a tool for this.
@speeeedy please at least try to answer Sir_Farcelot's questions- It doesn't really make sense to accuse someone of something but then not listen to any of their questions about the topic.
@Swskrei sorry, I thought i did. here:
-
This doesn't seem possible, however I would be willing to be proven wrong.
-
This would convince me, however I would also need a hand cam of you doing the crazy pause buffering l5 strat you say you can do.
-
No, I mean his l3 run: https://www.speedrun.com/appel/runs/z1kl59wy
-
Sorry, I should have shared this before: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1147978412/

I am very much accusing Michael of cheating and am currently collecting more data.
This is just for context, so y'all don't have to go back and forth for like an hour. (I will share my input later)
(Sir Farcelot) Have you realized the similarities between @DapperScratcher's and I's UI on our computers? I'm pretty sure we have the same model of computer that runs on the same OS, which may be causing the problem.
(Speeeedy) This doesn't seem possible, however I would be willing to be proven wrong.
(Sir Farcelot) I have a suggestion: I can record a video of myself packaging Appel, playing a level, and then using your tool to show that even in regular Appel, my replay code will still show inputs after the ending flag? This is similar to what Michael did to prove he was not cheating; his Appel was just "different," than most other's, apparently.
(Speeeedy) This would convince me, however I would also need a hand cam of you doing the crazy pause buffering l5 strat you say you can do.
(Sir Farcelot) Also, I just want to clarify, you mean @DapperScratcher's 27.0 L2 run, right? I'm not sure what you mean by "only run" since she also has some runs in Absurd Appel and Appel Awakening.
(Speeeedy) No, I mean his l3 run: https://www.speedrun.com/appel/runs/z1kl59wy
(Sir Farcelot) Lastly, I'm not accusing you of purposely falsely accusing me, but could you show me how your tool works? I'm interested in using it to test some runs as well.
(Speeeedy) Sorry, I should have shared this before: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1147978412/
(Sir Farcelot) P.S: Please stop using the "repetitive movements" argument because unless you give everyone the same treatment, (Michael doing the same thing...) I don't see how that's fair.
(Speeeedy) I am very much accusing Michael of cheating and am currently collecting more data.

For those of you not in the discord server, we are doing a collaboration with the Level Devil speedrunning community (with a bit of friendly competition to see who can do better on the others game). I believe the collab runs until October 24th, so if you feel inclined, check out their game, and mayb
