Wait why are you explainging how to do it!?!? Mods please see this soon...
Recording sometimes lag for me too so most of the time I just get a pb and then record the replay
I agree with @TheGreatYoKai that maybe we could create an appel where the replay system is more sophisticated. That would probably be difficult, but it would also probably prevent more cheating. However, you still need to have enough skill to create the TAS in the first place...
Recording isn't to bad if you have decent software. Certain chrome extensions can do the trick. That's true for other browsers as well.
Recording, at least for me, is terrible. You may have noticed that although michael only improved his fullgame% by about 4 seconds in level times, but his time is 6 seconds ahead. My computer is really slow when I try to record stuff. I wouldn't really be able to speedrun with it... I hope this makes sense. Also I can't really use chrome extentions.
you could just change those numbers at the start instead of adding extra letters though.
@Swskrei, is there a way to make a speedrun encrypted or can someone make a replay code verifier to guarantee the legitamacy of a run? I know that it might be difficult but all you have to do is analyze Griffpatch's system of replay codes.
Even if there was a way to encrypt replays, anything you change to the system can be edited by another scratcher. For example if someone made a mod that added a few L's and J's to your replay to identify it as a TAS, someone just just as easily find the code and reverse the mod.
but the worst thing abt this is that someone that isint very active could make a fair run of 24.8 in lvl 4 nad it'd be rejected.
Speedrunners have beaten TASes, and yet their runs weren't rejected. Like @Sir_Farcelot said, as long as your movements aren't too weird you'll be fine. For the Level 5 skip, nobody will be as precise as the TAS. Good luck @undeterminstic!
For those of you not in the discord server, we are doing a collaboration with the Level Devil speedrunning community (with a bit of friendly competition to see who can do better on the others game). I believe the collab runs until October 24th, so if you feel inclined, check out their game, and mayb
