Kryssstal's run

I was wondering why Kryssstal's 1:24:31 run, which is highly suspected to be cheated, is still on this board. Maybe there's discussion about it behind closed doors, but it has been a few months.

With the recent removals of Exo's spliced Meat Boy run, Lee's prerecorded Yoshi's Island run, and Todd Rogers' everything, now seems like it'd be an opportune time to finally take action.

I recognize there is unfortunately no way to prove conclusively if Kryssstal's emulator run is cheated, but considering the evidence of superhuman play garnered from watching/analyzing it, and it being the only emulator time within the top 18, it's really better safe than sorry.

If Kryssstal wants to prove that she is still capable of performing at this level, surely with new strats and tech and a little practice she can easily match or beat her old times under the new emulator rules. Until then, I think its prudent to err on the side of caution and assume they are not legitimate.

"Evidence"

doesn't provide evidence

I get the hand wringing surrounding the run, but don't misname being suspicious "evidence".

Hey, I know it's been taking us a while to take action here but it's only because we want to be thorough. It's easy to look at only one piece of evidence, like gameplay analysis, and come to a high level of suspicion, but there are many factors of her runs and streams that would be highly unlikely to be faked as well. We're working hard to get our information organized and released, and make our decision very soon. Please keep in mind that the runs happened over four years ago and getting accurate information about things that happened that long ago has been very challenging.

Alright, if there's discussion about it going on, that's good. I was just curious since the only mention of it on this forum was a locked topic about a poll, and everyone I see on twitter or what not thinks Kryssstal's guilty. But, none of them, or me, are LTTP runners, so whatever. I hope wqqqqwrt is involved in the decision making, he's obviously a bit biased against the run but he's in 2nd so I'd think he knows what he's talking about. Another substantial score just got removed for a similar reason; Billy Mitchell's highest Donkey Kong scores were proved to be done on emulator, which made them suspect of being recorded input: http://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/176004-Dispute-Jeremy-Young-Arcade-Donkey-Kong?p=946633&viewfull=1#post946633 Of course, no one wants innocent people to get wrongfully deleted, as much as you don't want guilty people to go free, and this can never be a 100% proven case... So I really don't know what the right outcome is, I just know there needs to be an outcome. Good luck with that.

Yeah unfortunately there's not likely to be anything conclusive either way, and pretty much everyone acknowledges that. The level of suspicion is very high, so what we've decided is the most fair way to make this decision is to compile all we can for and against, and poll the top 20 NMG runners and the src supermods. This makes sense as the decision is going to be based on analysis of gameplay and other factors, so having the highest level players scrutinize it seems most fair. It is unfortunate that there is a lot of personal bias at play, but if you weren't around at the time it's safe to say Kryssstal was... fairly abrasive at times.

I think we're confident we'll have this ready to send out to the players this weekend or Monday, then give them a week so they don't have to rush to get through it, and in case anyone is difficult to reach, and hopefully put it to rest.

We haven't been very transparent about what we've been doing as it's been going on, and that's something we'll try to be better about in the future, especially for situations which are as important as this.

Thanks for having patience while we worked through this. The decision we've made is to remove the run from the leaderboard. Long version of the explanation can be found here: https://pastebin.com/FqJiytqj

First off I understand and respect the decision that's been made over this, and this is not trying to argue that.

In my opinion there is alot of good things in the NMG Run that could be used as a resource for people getting into running the game. Not on the leaderboard is acceptable and should be for anyone if a run is in question, but to delete it from existence I think removes a good resource of information for people to see.

I don't know... maybe a link to the run in "guides"?

@Pixie_Styx There are links to her VODs in the following document https://goo.gl/vPiiN7

...Which btw is amazingly well put together. I feel like I really understand now why the decision was made in the way it was. Read through it if you want a well balanced perspective on the matter.

Yeah the VODs are still out there, and it would be nice to keep them available. I'm not sure if dropping them in guides makes the most sense though. This thread may have to serve as the archive for them for now.

@kinesin13 I agree... very well organized with alot of good information.
