Star Trek: New Worlds was an RTS PC game released in 2000 that had a rough development history and a half baked release. Originally conceived by Interplay (of Fallout fame), it was produced by a British company named Binary Asylum for several years before Interplay yanked it away prior to it being finished. The eventual release couldn't save Interplay either, who shuttered shortly after.

Featuring an entirely brand new story and characters, New Worlds had 45 levels across 3 campaigns, letting you play as the Federation, Klingons, or even Romulans. When a Romulan science experiment goes wrong, an entire sector of space sees an unknown and dangerous alien race spill into it. We are the Star Fleet personnel in the sector at the time, and have to handle the catastrophe while balancing diplomacy.

I have a soft space in my heart for this little game, I dont know why. It was ambitious and made by a super small team of people. There aren't many sites with information about this game, so I have set up a fan site at https://stnewworlds.com come check it out if you want to give this game a try!
