Well then. I said heartfelt story at 1:18, didn’t expect it to take 1058 days to get there. It was a tumultuous journey, complete with burnout, giving up BBT in favour of other speedruns, missing the game, returning every once in a while to churn out another IL PB and fail to beat my 1:19. Who knew that it would take a few new strats from 7-F1 onwards to make the PB journey… kind of easy, actually. Seriously, after a sub-10 min Chapter 8 IL and 4 derusts I was already getting runs within a minute of PB. When I got a low 1:20 and a run 6 seconds slower than my PB, I knew it was a matter of time before it happened. Lo and behold, the next BBT stream had this as the first run (and the Any% PB).

Tbh im kinda glad I didn’t make my heartfelt story back then, because now I can add to it. I distinctly remember the stream before I got 1:19 offline, I was raging hard and I was thinking ”how can I be ready for my Solo VS Coop ESA race if I can’t PB”. The next day I got the 1:19. I guess, what I wanted to say back then was that I’m happy I didn’t give up on the idea of the sub-1:20. But now, nearly three years later, with an improved PB, I learned a slightly different way to phrase this lesson. I feel like PBs will come when they want to, so it’s important to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride each one brings, even if that ride crashes in a ditch off the side of the motorway and leaves you surviving off of road kill for 2 years and change!

What was I trying to say? Oh yeah, don’t give up, hold your nerve, chill and you’ll get all the PBs your heart desires.
