I'm a little late to this but I wanted to add my two cents. I've been thinking for awhile that we should consider separating emu runs from the rest, the reasoning being that they're not done on official hardware and thus could have inaccuracies in gameplay (plus the advantage of using a keyboard). Adjusting load times for every category is a pretty good solution but ultimately my vote is for having a non-obsoleting run variable for runs done on unofficial emulators.
@Dalet we split (or at least I do) upon completion of the following maps: Adv1Willow Ch1Rictusempra BeanRewardRoom Quidditch Ch2Skurge Adv3DungeonQuest Arena Ch3Diffindo Adv4Greenhouse Adv6Goyle Adv7SlythComRoom Ch4Spongify Adv8Forest Adv9Aragog Adv11aCorridor Adv11bSecrets Adv12Chamber
and then the run ends upon entering GreatHall_G
Um, this is the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets srdc page.
Yeah guys let's just make 100% require only some of the items in the game Kappa b
This kind of thing is not allowed. Prior setup is something that violates the unwritten rules of speedrunning. And that's without even getting into the legality of using save states.
I'll make a video showing all the differences.
I made a set of splits that somewhat work for hp2 autosplit a long time ago. Maybe I'll post it under resources....
We encourage you to go out and buy an actual copy but if you can't be bothered then there are torrents available as well as this tutorial by our own MaxG1054:
There are two different versions of Super Mario Collection (JPN) that I can find for download: a regular one and one that says "Rev A". Is there any difference when it comes to speedrunning the games?
We've found a lot of new strats that make early forest seem closer than ever. If you want me to give you all the latest details on everything mentioned above, send me a message on discord or Twitter and I'll PM you an invite.
Editing your registry is not recommended. The best way to install hp2 is to run the setup.exe file on the disc. If that doesn't work I have a link to the game files that you can just pop in a folder and run and it should work.
