@StudentGaming Unfortunately, I believe the only emulators currently allowed for runs are the ones listed in the rules. (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). The reason for this is that random emulators may run faster/slower or have other strange quirks that make it harder to verify runs. However alternative emulators are still useful for practice until you are able to resolve the issues you have with the other emulators or buy an acual NES/better computer :)

@Darpey Unfortunately it was deleted along with zdoroviy antony's channel, however he may still have it backed up on his computer.

@Lul_ecks_dee I do see your point, and if anyone can do 4:54 it's gonna be you, taven, kosmic, or somewes. Definitely not me though lol EDIT: I read your question and I would say it would have to be a pretty large bounty, most likely $500k or more. Not that I'd get 4:54 before anyone else anyway since I wouldn't be the only one going for it if there was a bounty that large.

@KingBoo Blazit saved 8-2 framerule with 3 segments. Still a far cry from single segment but at least we know each trick in the level is RTA viable.

@roopert83 brings up a good point.. what kind of person actually has the vast amount of free time required for such a feat?

It's all about the journey, and not the destination. We KNOW 4:54 will happen eventually if it's humanly possible. It just comes down to the fact that not very many people are capable of going for 4:54, and even fewer of those have the amount of time at their disposal required to pull this off.

We're talking THOUSANDS of hours. For what? Cutting less than a second off the completion time of a video game?

I just don't see the value for me, personally. Maybe someone will eventually come along that has both the interest, skills, and talent to achieve such a time. Currently, I have none of those.

@Kriller37 we'll see.. eventually we'll run out of framerules and savable frames in 8-4. If it's the last possible time save people WILL go for it.

Taven is insane. Now we know 4:55.2x is possible single segment.

DDDDRRRRRATATATATATA BOOM BOOM WORLD WAR III seriously though, I don't see any reason for someone to be only a verifier. If they're trusted enough, why don't they deserve to be a mod?

First off, thanks Aldyn for letting me put this on here! This is the updated version of the 8-3 hammer bro patterns spreadsheet originally created by AldynSpeedruns aka @Lul_ecks_dee .

The main improvements are:

  1. An abbreviation system for better comprehension on the fly

  2. Many more patterns than the original (There are 100 framerules of patterns in the spreadsheet now, covering paces all the way from 4:53 to 5:31).

  3. General formatting improvements such as alternating between white and grey spreadsheet cells to make it a bit easier on the eyes and also help comprehension, as well as color coding the patterns with a jump at the start apart from those that don't have one (again, to help with comprehension on the fly).

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uXTYBUwmb_2u3ykPoihwZaIy8bA2gEXpfx4INzBaoDQ/edit#gid=0

I did this all in an afternoon so please tell me if there are any mistakes, I checked for mistakes myself but I could have overlooked a few. I still haven't added videos for the patterns yet or outlined too many of the hard patterns, that will have to wait until tomorrow at least as it's 2:30 AM and I'm about to fall out of my chair.

I hope somebody finds this useful! =D

I'm pretty sure mario automatically faces right if he's touching the flagpole. However I believe he could be facing left up to that point. (somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

@Kriller37 You can always use an emulator with a NES controller, it may even have less input lag than NES Classic depending on your setup, also it fixes the time problem. If emulator isn't an option for you then I guess you're stuck with the time disadvantage unfortunately :(

Michigan, USAraymondamantius4 years ago

@owen5560 RTA rules TAS is 4:54.28

Michigan, USAraymondamantius4 years ago

@kuribro yeah 8-2 fr save is incredibly hard but at least the inputs are slightly more straightforward.

Michigan, USAraymondamantius4 years ago

I had this problem, simply closing and opening the program again fixed it.

If anyone can get 4:54 my money's on Aldyn

@grodney2000 if I remember correctly, the human SoB is now 4:55.096 with a better 8-4 than the one you mentioned.

For some reason it wasn't showing up in the menu until a minute ago. Thanks! :D

I downloaded SuperSonic's livesplit plugin file that is supposed to round splits to the nearest 0.35 seconds but I have zero idea how to apply it to my layout/splits. Help please?
