@LiamTrader @sowinotsowi I wouldn't recommend running the GBA version of the game for various reasons (namely because it runs at a slower framerate) but I don't see any particular reason why it would be disallowed, given that there are two GBA runs on the leaderboard already; one was done on console, the other on emulator (Bizhawk).
@Mingura666 I talked to Chris on discord and apparently SMA3 running in Bizhawk has inconsistent loading times on different PCs (standalone mGBA was no different).
The "sounding like a dictator" comment was a bit unnecessary imo, the yoshi mods try their hardest to keep everything fair for everyone and I figured if emu was being banned outright there was a good reason for it. It really doesn't make much sense to allow emu with the inconsistencies, even if the leaderboard is split. Not much point in having a leaderboard at all if the runs themselves aren't directly comparable lol.
Anyway, despite it not being allowed for submissions, I can still run the game on Bizhawk and that's probably what I'll do for the time being, at least until I find a better solution.
@Volpey Maybe only one emulator (e.g. Bizhawk) could be allowed to prevent that issue?
Darkwing_duck_sda's runs are currently taking up two leaderboard spots in the Any% No Wrong Warp category. I assume his faster run should have obsoleted his slower run, but this was probably missed due to the run being submitted manually. Would be cool to see this corrected.
Would it be possible to allow emulator runs if they're put in a separate tab on the leaderboard like with SM64?

This route is mainly intended for races or multi-run categories such as 11x Any%. The goal of this route is to eliminate as much risk from a regular any% run as possible without costing much time. With a decent amount of practice, I think virtually anyone can become 100% consistent at the strategies shown in this guide. I also tried to make this as beginner-friendly as possible for a guide this detailed.
Hope this helps someone!
There's a version of the Pellsson practice rom (patch) with MWE levels included at the bottom of the Resources page.
Normally more runs make a leaderboard look more competitive, not less. More people = competition.
What's the point of having fast runs if there aren't also slow runs? Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of speedrunning?
No
Too arbitrary, also there are too many categories that shouldn't exist already
@marcuscollins there's a version of SMB1 for the GBA which is allowed for runs, not entirely sure what the gameplay differences are, though it looks nearly identical.
Holy cow that's insane! GG, didn't think the new blindfolded record would happen that fast. It's going to be really interesting to see where this category goes over the next few months.
Nice! This is a cool idea for a tas.
@Pladask it's great to see more people running this game, thanks for choosing smb1 :D
@Darpey if enough interest was shown, there could be an exclusively all stars category extensions board
Remember guys... there doesn't have to be an official page for a category for you to run it. If there's enough interest in a category, the mods will more likely than not add it to the site.
