yeah you basically can't do it in 1.3. if you want to do it you should go to an earlier version of the game or just do any% until luncheon

The original rules for these categories were timing ends when the text appears on screen but the rules have been changed to timing ends when the Lakitu board appears on screen. Just a minor change but hopefully that helps with runs.

There will inevitably be people who want new categories on the leaderboard, so to make it easier for the mods I have created a form for runners to fill out to request new categories. This will keep the forum posts uncluttered so if people want to ask questions or discuss something they can do so easily.

The Category Extensions leaderboard has officially been created! (link here: https://speedrun.com/mss_ce or linked to leaderboards tab)

I will move the team categories to that leaderboard but I will keep Toadsworth% on the main leaderboard. I will also add the Daisy Cruiser, Luigi’s Mansion, and Blindfolded% categories to the other leaderboard.

For future category suggestions it would be great if you could post them in the Category Extensions forum but it’s still ok to post them here. Also make sure to post the rules in as much detail as possible with your suggestions.

Sorry I've kind of slept on this but a Category Extensions leaderboard could actually be created now. There are a few things I want to say before this happens though.

First, for each of the runner suggested categories that you all want to add I need at least one run (with video) of each before they are officially added to the leaderboard. Also, if you have a category to add, if you could describe the basic rules of the run and a time that is considered a "good run" where a video is needed, that would be great.

Second, I'm thinking of moving the Toadsworth% and the all members of a team categories (Mario Fireballs, Yoshi Eggs, Bowser Monsters, etc.) to the Category Extensions leaderboard because I feel like those would work better on that leaderboard. If anyone doesn't want that change to happen and wants them to stay on the main leaderboard just let me know.

This all still could be a few weeks or possibly months away but I'll do my best to make it happen ASAP.

also no that’s literally just any% but slightly harder

yeah 30 fps is what i play at too. my computer fans are pretty loud because stray is a big game but it usually never lags for me

yeah and usually only like 3-4 people respond to/ like the ideas in these posts so there’s really no point in talking about it to have it gain popularity. and the mods are still the ones who decide if a category is good enough to be a real category. so like even if a category has a lot of popularity, if it’s a terrible category it won’t be added. so use discord to talk about ideas and if you think it’s a good idea use the form

Yeah like if you want to make a new category, first of all submit it the correct way and second make sure the category doesn’t already exist.

There have been a few suggestions that you guys want to be real categories, such as Dinger%, Blindfolded%, Luigi’s Mansion%, Daisy Cruiser%, and All Captains Extended. If there are any more categories you want feel free to suggest them. These could all be possible categories and would probably be moved to a Category Extensions leaderboard as they are mostly just fun categories for people to run. That being said, to make these all into official categories I will need at least 1 run of each category. Other people can still run them before they are made official but only 1 run needs to be done to make it official. I will run a few of the categories myself, but not all of them. That’s why I need the help of all of you to make these categories real.

P.S. There was a Toy Field category suggestion, but there were no rules for the run. If someone wants to come up with some rules and then do a run of it, I will make it a category.
