I’m not currently on the leaderboard, but my unofficial pb is 1:18:59. I have been running every day but i always end up messing up somewhere. For example, in the splits below, I have to wait for mecha wiggler to run around again, and then lose time, and in seaside I accidentally clipped back in bounds and didn’t know the backup answer for talking to the sphinx. Then, the run died due to dying in luncheon 3 times. I am racing another runner with a pb of 1:17, and am grinding so hard to beat him that I can’t wait to beat him so I can finally take a break. Please help! I’m desperate. https://share.icloud.com/photos/01fqlI2XE27NNZ_Hx0TJ6I-uw
i'd recommend joining the smo discord and getting help for specific issues there, its a community that can help loads. https://discord.gg/smospeedruns
If discord isn't an option for you, then the best I can really offer is Tomshi's beginner tutorial series. This will give you a comprehensive guide on what to do when, https://tinyurl.com/TomHatedHowLongTheLinkWasSmile
Best of luck :)
It sounds counterintuitive, but if you’ve been running every single day, you might see a benefit to taking a break for a few days. Give yourself a chance to refuel and come back to the game fresh.
Trying to get the fastest times in every kingdom
Now my pb is 1:15:51, and I think my problem was resetting way too often so that I’m a little too good at cap cascade and sand for my own good. (I’ve gotten an 11:59 exit out of sand once. I’m trying to learn how to do the madam broodal fight fast but am a little confused on when to let go of holding Cappy after I backflip. Any segusstion?
F5Gabe don’t do it yet. It doesn’t actually save to much time and if you lose a lot of time trying just do it the normal way. Or have a save file set to cascade if you do want to do it. Watch small ants tutorials as well.
My unofficial PB is 1:38:22 (still waiting to be verified) and I also die alot in runs but I still PB a lot. So I recommend not resetting unless you know for a fact that you can't PB. Somethings that are instant resets for me are falling into deep woods, getting kleptoed, and being more than 5 minutes behind a time for a specific segment. But if you just bonk or take damage or some other small mistake like that don't let it bring you down (even the world records have small mistakes sometimes). I also recommend trying to grab checkpoints if feel like you're inconsistent at something.
