Pretty sure RTA is the standard across this site unless otherwise specified.
Same-ish as in close together but doesn't really matter if they're not at the exact same time. I think as long as you push one of the cap buttons before the jump button, you should be good.
I can imagine that it'd be slower, if only for the fact that the glitch requires setup, but could be useful. If you're inconsistent at jump rope, it could help, and it could also allow a (short) break near the middle of a long category (All Missions or 100%).
Could Crystal Smash get added to the leaderboards?
I think the IL category system may need to be changed. As it stands, the categories are Any%, 1 Gem, 2 Gems, and All Gems. First of all, I don't see a reason to have 1 Gem and 2 Gem categories. Why are they there? Secondly, there may be other categories worth adding. Off the top of my head, a category for completing the Bonus Objective for each level and a category for catching Pixel Toad could be added. 100% (All Gems + Bonus Objective) could be added, too, although some levels would require the level to be run twice due to the Bonus Objective making collecting all 3 Gems impossible (i.e. Touchstone Trouble).
What do the mods think? Are these good suggestions?
Thanks. Didn't think of using d-tilt at the start. I was able to improve your time by hitting both the target above the glass and the target below the glass with a single nair (requires somewhat precise timing, but it's worth it).
Another new strat I came up with that might be able to be improved.
-Run onto the spring, ignoring the first target. -Time (or spam) neutral-B so it breaks the target on the glass. -Hit the top target. -Hit the left target. -Use a down-B near the target under the glass. This will take care of that target, the one between the platforms, and the one which was skipped earlier. -Hit the target under the spring. -Land on the left platform and hit the lower left target with a d-tilt. -Hit the upper left platform. -Hit the middle platform.
Someone else might be able to optimize this better than I did, so here's the strat: -Hit the first target. -Immediately after landing, push the grab button so that Samus' zair hits the target between the 2 walls. (This is the main difference in the run, and I think it's a pretty substantial time saver. Replaces a laggy d-tilt with a move that I'm not even sure affects the movement speed.) -Hit the top target. -Hit the left target. -Hit the two right targets with a fast-fall nair and land on the platform below. -Run off the platform. -Jump. -Hit the middle target with either a nair or an up-air. -Hit the upper left target with an up-air and land on the platform. -Hit the lower left target with a d-tilt (d-smash will hit too, but I think it's a bit slower) and jump off the platform (careful with the timing, there's more lag than you'd think and touching the bumper will destroy your run). -Hit the middle target with a dair.
Interesting. I'm not entirely sure whether this should be allowed or not. It sounds like a minor skip technique, similarly to how runners of the New Super Mario Bros. series tend to aim for the bottom of the flagpole when clearing a level in order to reduce the length of the sliding down animation. On the other hand, it seems to be only available in a specific version of the game. Also, it seems a bit ambiguous as to whether you actually complete the level or not.
I think I'll hold off on allowing this for the time being, but I might allow it in the future, given Mistakes's consent.
No posts in the game's forums, but Hoxer hasn't been on in a month. The only thing Hoxer's linked is his inactive Twitch.
RTA may be more accurate, but I would still prefer IGT. By far easier to track, and ensures fairness. In RTA, you can potentially have the 100% ideal strat played perfectly and lose simply because someone else's console loaded 3 frames faster than yours, which just isn't fair. IGT ensures that every time the same strat is used (assuming no RNG) the result and time to complete are the same.
@RE_Snow Moderator inactivity does not apply until 3 weeks. Dchaps was on 1 week ago. SephJul, on the other hand, hasn't been on in a month, so the mods can probably remove him. You should have the power to add new mods, though.
@InfiniteSheldor He hasn't been on this site in a month, but his YouTube and Twitter seem pretty active. Have you tried to contact him through those means?
@JTB Go to the game, click "Edit Game", scroll down to the "Moderators" section and uncheck the "Super" box for those who don't need it.
@SpecialistFofl Generally, this is a last resort thread and you should attempt to contact the current mods before posting here. You have not posted in the game's forums. That being said, neither mod has been online in a month, Kirk has no means of contact, and broccoli_illuminati's YouTube is fake. If you contact broccoli via Twitch and still receive no response, I'm sure you will be added. :)
@Sotherogue That's what happens when the OPer tries to delete the topic. I've done it before.
He wants mod for New Super Mario Bros. U. That's a copy-paste post from the NSMBU forum. He was incorrectly informed that this was the only way to become a mod.
Get in line. :P Sotherogue and I both made the request earlier.
