I don't really like this idea

as long as you can clearly hear the in-game sound as well, this should be fine. and if you find a way to only record the game audio (which should not be too hard with obs) - even better!

The level is split in two parts. This happens when you level reset within the sub part, and then enter that part again. You can avoid that by using the star select instead of level reset code. It cannot be replicated in RTA and will thus not be helpful sadly. Consider joining the SM64 discord (look at resources) to get questions like these resolved a bit quicker!

They would realize due to faster loading times, less lag, and most importantly, the rom being started from an everdrive and not from console power on. The run will in any case be suspicious, and the moderators have a trained eye for detecting that.

here you can find the "ideal runs" that iwersonsch mentioned. it reaches a 1:32:55. copyrights by usamune and atmpas. https://sites.google.com/view/supermario64/usamunepj/idealrun

on the estimate sheet you can see which player has which "ideal 120 star time" based off of star PBs with RTA strats. with the best times by the community combined, we reach 1:33:51. copyright by usamune https://sites.google.com/view/supermario64/usamunepj/ues

including single star strats (like RR carpetless) into these estimated times makes no sense as you wouldn't be doing them in an RTA. also, the single star records (found here https://sites.google.com/view/supermario64/singlestar/records) were played on different versions of the game (some of them on the US version, some on the JP and some on JP shindou).

hope that helps paco.

Because Single Star speedruns take lag into account Vanish.

He indeed means the Single Star/IL leaderboards. Current records must be submitted using the N64 version. However, for historic reasons, Lyfey has gathered several old runs from back when the N64 wasn't the standard. This is to show the development of the strategies that are used. Furthermore the old times show how dedicated people have been to Single Star even many years ago.

on the normal LB. shindou is slow for RTA though. it has slower loading times but less lag, so only suitable for single star. @defqon_Jan

Brawler64 has been tested and isn't suitable for SM64.

N64 Controller is the most precise one and used by most, however it's hard to do bowser throws with it, and the stick wears out doing those.

Hori is a bit less precise, but used by Cheese, Weegee and a few others. Most runners have one for throws.

Some players started out on Hori and eventually switched. I'd recommend N64 but in the end it comes down to the individual.

What Gothic says is true but to actually answer the question, 1.0 is the regular version and 1.3 is Shindou.

You can't watch it on https://www.speedrun.com/run/zpqw20xy . You can only watch it on .

In youtube.com video settings you must enable "allow playback on other websites" so you can watch it on https://www.speedrun.com/run/zpqw20xy .

Hi Busbyy. What most people go with is a GV-USB2, pretty good for it's rather low price.

you can see it quite well if you have good brightness on your monitor. i personally use vegas to time mine. if you still got problems, try changing your capture card settings. also you can enable the centiseconds timer and the "lag frames as life count" code so you can calculate the actual real time.

@Jumpyluff Why do you criticize sr.com mods and the sm64 community as a whole while being so outside of the community that you post a simple question in the sr.com forum instead of the sm64 discord? Who do you think you are?
