Sure, it's not my board.
In that case, I'll add my theoretical ruleset to my original post, so if someone sees it and wants to try it, then at least they have a metric with which to time it.
In the most polite and respectful way possible, I don't feel it makes sense to consider it an issue to make a miscellaneous category for a single run since:
- It's barely on the main board by definition
- That's by and large the point of miscellaneous categories (as in, why they are a site feature - for elements ancillary to the main game that will receive fewer runners and runs),
- The whole point of leaderboards is to serve the community, But you do you, I guess.
I'd do another one on the Complete Edition (PC) if that makes a difference (The UlforceVeedramon buff doesn't apply to the whole party in that version so it would require different strats), just need to find a complete save so I don't have to grind for like fifteen hours.

Hi, curious about adding a category for the Master Rank Colosseum Battle, I have a run for it from back in 2018:
Not sure if it would be better as a single IL or as a separate category (probably under Misc categories) etc.
This is the original PS4 release. Happy to submit through normal channels once they exist.
Rules would be to start time on selecting the Master Colosseum and end time on the last frame of the battle rewards UI moving into place.
Neat, this strat would save like 20-30 seconds over the current mission mode WR route. GG!
The game is no longer available to buy from PSN. Please make a separate board or allow emulator (in a separate subcategory if necessary) so that competition is possible. A disc time will lose 10+ minutes compared to the downloaded version.

Explanation of the upcoming changes:
-
Timing method change to Sum Of IGT to establish parity between players on SSD and HDD and to allow greater routing depth (can swap skill loadouts/suits without losing time). Currently existing runs will be retimed accordingly. Retiming will be handled in a publicly visible spreadsheet in the Resources tab for the sake of transparency.
-
Subcategory variable (split board) implemented for emulator, as the game is difficult to obtain on console and will eventually be rendered inaccessible entirely. [DONE]
-
Ban of DLC suits on console specifically as it is no longer obtainable (I plan for it to be permitted on emulator since it is trivial to obtain there). [DONE]
-
Addition of Official Mode ILs as the game currently lacks an ILs leaderboard. [DONE]
-
Addition of 8-star hard subcategory for NG+. [DONE]
These changes will be rolled out over the following days. Additional changes may or may not be made, for example:
- Ultimate Mode scenarios and ILs are being looked into, but it seems that many of them are random (random ally/enemy pilots can have different length dialogue from each other, which affects how long some missions take) so whether/how they will be implemented is not known at this time.
I have some thoughts on the leaderboard organization.
Changing the timing method for this game to Sum of IGT would benefit the game by removing load discrepancies between hard drive types (SSD/HDD), as well as console vs. emulator. IGT continues through supers etc. and is difficult/impossible to abuse. Testing has revealed that IGT is even tied to framerate so degenerate strategies such as abusing lag (e.g. using hyper bazookas in a crowd) will not save time.
Another benefit of IGT is that time spent in menus such as the skills menu and Mobile Suits menu would not count towards the total, so that switching between skill setups or certain suits that might be more optimal for a given mission becomes viable, therefore giving a place for more of the game's mechanics in the speedrun. In addition, 8-star Hard becomes a viable subcategory for NG+ story modes (for the same reason).
Emulator should be added because it is soon going to be the only way to acquire this game, since it's locked to PS3. PS3 emulation has come a long way since this board was established and it's very stable. The DLC is already unobtainable outside of modded consoles and provides a significant advantage in NG+ runs. It is available on emulator but a simple subcategory variable (split between console/emu) will resolve this. There is one problem that previously caused crashing on emulator but there is a patch for it: https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=Dynasty_Warriors%3A_Gundam_Reborn Emulator reduces lag from having lots of enemies on the screen and so can make the game a more enjoyable experience.
I would also like to moderate for this game:
- I am on SRC daily and I verify runs within 48 hours as a rule.
- I mod for several other Musou games and am highly knowledgeable on this one.
- If sum of IGT is implemented, I will manually retime all runs in a publicly visible spreadsheet (for transparency). I will also handle my proposed leaderboard changes (e.g. adding ILs).
RPCS3 is in a pretty good place stability-wise at this point, especially for the categories that use IGT. I haven't investigated this game specifically on emulator but I feel that emulation can be re-assessed as a viable option for speedruns.
Hi, just thought I'd ask if it was possible to split the Arcade Mode leaderboard up by character (into ILs). I'm interested in running with other characters but currently there's no reason to do so. Similar to Persona 4 Arena Ultimax's leaderboard: https://www.speedrun.com/persona_4_arena_ultimax/levels
Also story mode is not on the board, personally I feel it makes sense for that to be the "full-game" category. I will be doing a run of it today or tomorrow.
Thanks.
