Come join the official PIF speedrun discord! Here you can talk about and learn everything about speedrunning this wacky run!
99% was created as a misc. category as a slightly easier alternative for 100%, since the last drumset lesson has been known to be very inconsistent. However, nothing really came from it, the only run on there was from my own previous 100% runs. I've gone ahead and removed it from the board, since it added nothing at all.
This isn't super significant, but I feel like I should formally announce it since, you know, it was a category on here.
Welcome Back Kefka! Yeah a lot has happened since you left lol, I'm partially to blame
I'm probably going to add one of the wipeout series mods to help with the leaderboard, so I'm sorry about that mate. I'm currently going through a weird time in life rn, but when I can handle a flood of IL submissions I'll finally get them up.
Hey, sorry for the very late reply. What do you mean it would take 6+ hours? There's 12 episodes with 4 parts each, with one of the 4 only takes 2-5 seconds. If you're talking about the created levels, that wouldn't be included in probably any category since it'd be a pain to moderate. I'll change the category name to "All Campaign Episodes" and add the easy difficulty.
Let me know If I'm missing something or am not understanding the situation.
Hey all! This forum page is designed to be a dumping ground for any and all suggestions, improvements, etc. for Wipeout 3. If you have any ideas, please let me know here! I apologize for my inconsistent presence, I'm hopefully going to improve my availability and speed coming soon. Here's a little F.A.Q. just in case I go AFK for a week or more...
~I'm all for new categories, however I just ask 2 things: A run to accompany the request, or at least a promise to run the category, so I don't have 17 blank categories, and The category has to have some unique difficulty/interesting tweak to the run to make it not just any%. I'm Sorry, but I won't add "Any% but the Wii Remote is Duct taped to my arm," even though I personally want it. ~I'm a bad moderator and I'm very forgetful so if I don't approve your run for a hot minute I'm sincerely sorry. ~ILs will be a thing soon™
Sorry for the long post, I ramble on a lot. Thanks for your patience, and I'd appreciate any and all advise!
There is actually one NG+ category, which is NG+ B&B Difficulty. The only difference, besides being NG+ of course, is the B&B difficulty doesn't let you Death Abuse, and the Cycles are pretty much entirely different, and faster. I hate that you have to delete the save file for NG, but that's the only way i could come up with having a true NG playthrough.
Unfortunately I don't think we'll add a high-score leaderboard as of right now, at least for here on SRC. Most High-score related leaderboards here have some important speed tech, strats, or optimizations that make it more than just grinding away points (think Starfox 64 and even WSR Wakeboarding). The only candidate in Wii Music would be Pitch perfect, but the only "speed tech" is just moving the pointer around and being correct, which is no different from the run as it is. A high-score leaderboard for ILs would fit in much better on a website like cyberscore, IMO. Sorry y'all
Sorry for the delay, MM RTA has been added to the leaderboard as a Misc. Category! If you can rainbowkappa, can you please submitted your run. Thanks you so much!
We are planning on making it it's own run and category, since it plays completely different and has different unique glitches. We are currently thinking of the best way to do that, format wise, so we should have it up soon™.
Imean it makes sense as a IL sort of run, it'd just be a pain to play through the game to unlock Basic lessons. I'll think about it, but if someone does a run of it, I will definitely add it as a sub category
If anyone does do a run, put in this forum.
Sure, Although I'm going to probably make it a Misc. Category if it's okay with you.
I've been thinking about this recently, and what I think I'll do is IGT + however many coins you collect. Since each coin gives a consistent amount of time, we can just add it to the IGT after. I feel like this would be the most consistent, convenient, and proper way to do this. I'll hopefully set up an IL leaderboard within the next few days
Hey All! I created a discord server for this game. The community is small, but this is will be a nice place to dumb any strats, or a easy way to communicate with the community or mods!
Here's a permanent invite link! https://discord.gg/Hj6bZQe
We were thinking about adding a secondary category for this idea awhile ago, but we never did. The Current category should be done with 1 controller. We will work on adding a "Multiple Controller" Category soon, since there's a lot more interest in this category then we originally thought lol. Sorry for the wait btw
For a SUPER SERIOUS SPEEDGAME like wii music 20 minutes isn't bad, The thing that shouldn't be appealing is the Content of PP, tbh it's a very niche category, and not many people would be able to answer them correct, let along quickly. That being said I have thought about Mii Maestro speedruns in the past, but It doesn't appeal to me as a speedrun tbh. There is still a very hard limit to how fast the speedrun can go, and "Endurance" speedruns are never really fun or popular, also The Wii Remote does not work very well, so keeping a consistent fast tempo is VERY difficult and is more frustrating than interesting. Plus Wiggling the Wii remote at a "Consistent" tempo isn't interesting tech or gameplay, which would make this probably 10 minute speedrun less entertaining to run and watch than PP. I still think this is a very strong contender though, since there aren't a lot of other good options.
Edit: Also in case anyone is curious, PP = Pitch Perfect. People probably could put that together, I just wanted to add this just in case
Okay I'll actually look into formatting that. I thought you unlocked Instruments after Completing all of the Advanced Lessons, but double checking proves otherwise. The one downside to unlock "Everything" is we do have to spend an hour and a half on the Basic lessons to unlock instruments, but I will investigate in this, probably while at SGDQ
