I know BLJ kinda works when it feels like..but this time Instead of losing the run to not being able to BLJ..this time I lost it to not being able to clip through the door..IDK what happened
Idk if that's the case, you can still clip through the walls beside the door so it would be weird to not be able to clip in a certain spot of the door.
when you blj against a wall with speed then you can loose all of it but it depends how high you are on the wall when you hit it
for me it looks like you jumped too late the first time after being at the door...there are only a couple of frames where your M-speed is conserved, after that you'll end up on 0 horizontal speed. it happened sometimes to me too...but i was practicing and had the show-speed-value gameshark code on and then i saw it... M40, M90, M300, M500, 0, 40 (after doing regular longjump, not backwards)
I heard that if you dont keep spamming A at the door youll lose the speed Idk if that true though
sometimes there are glitches that are once in a lifetime for sm64. They'll literally never happen again even with the exact same inputs. That's the price you pay for playing a buggy game.
@Poke: mashing the button is a consistent strat, but you technically dont HAVE to do it...with luck OR practise you get frame perfect inputs...it will work if a is pressed when mario touches the ground on every first frame
@Beast: i assume, you mean e.g. pk2012's vid about the ttc upwarp? thats not correct. even if nobody hasnt re-done it yet, that wont mean its not possible...you see a computer (and thats what the n64 console, an emulator or a game is...nothing different) will always do the same. it has no consciousness, so there are no decisions. whatever the inputrs AND CIRCUMSTANCES are, youll ever get the exact same result. but you dont know, what happened earlier in the run, which proper values have been set for this action to occur. but its definitely re-creatable (1st reproduce 2nd analyze 3rd exploit the glitch!), thats for sure. no bug is single-existent and doesnt happen only in a unique way.
