What's the version number in the top right in menus? When you reset checkpoint into a portal, can you immediately tap w to go through it, or do you need to wait a second? This sounds to me like you're really just running the legacyosx build, but frakensteined into the old supporting game files. The standard workaround on windows/linux is to fill the x64 folder with the same files from the base x86 folder (copy/symlink), from the same version - creating a frankenstein version isn't going to be allowed since it's not a build that ever actually existed.

If you don't have instant portals, there's no need to stay on 244, you can just use the "legacy" beta instead, which most people also report performs much better.

All the tricks still work the same, the only difference is the framerate - 60fps should be exactly the same.

With mutators difficulty essentially doesn't matter, and there's no reason to run this game without them when the classics have much better load times.

You'll find very few (if any) runs are done on tourist/easy cause you can't rocket jump. A lot of the coop runs will be done on serious to get the biggest damage boosts possible.

The ajax_leaderboard.php seems to have an incredibly aggressive server-side cache. Looking at the HTTP headers, there's supposed to be a 2 minute cache, but neither waiting these 2m, doing a force reload, disabling the cache, or opening the page in incognito cause it to update. Instead the only option is to wait even longer, I've spent 20+ minutes multiple times already. It happens to me in NZ, and other mods I've spoken to from the US West, and Italy, so it doesn't seem to be particularly regional.

This is very frustrating when trying to update rules and double check their formatting. I of course get that you've got increased traffic during the holidays and you need to cache things, and leaderboards really don't need to be updated that quickly. It would be nice if the server cache was shorter and client was longer, so people like myself could force reload, or maybe editing the rules should instantly regenerate the page.

As the pinned post says, we value actual execution over ideas, we won't add a category without any runs, but if people start doing them we will. That being said, it sounds like you're suggesting three variables here: player count; true/normal takedown; skips. It's unlikely that all combinations of these will get runners, it'll probably be better to focus on just one.

So if you've ever seen any other Talos run, you know it plays nothing like the simple puzzle game it is casually. But for almost as long as we've been breaking the game apart, we've also been asking another question: How can we do all that, but less usefully? Basically our version of SM64's A Button Challenge, in Useless we try to collect all sigils, across both the main and DLC campaigns, while pressing the Use buttons as few times as possible. And just like the ABC, it leads to a dramatically different run. Just how many presses does it take? Well you'll just have to watch the video to find out :)

Now Useless is segmented out of necessity. Even ignoring how any one mistake can lead to an extra press invalidating the entire run, there are dozens of different extremely difficult tricks, which each could eat up hours of attempts by themselves. Because of this, our primary focus was simply getting a presentable run, not grinding out every possible frame. We still focus on speed of course, but in a similar vein to the various Zelda LOTADs, this might be better called a Low Optimization Segmented Speedrun.

You have to start with a clean profile, so you'd have to go through the tutorial and earn the points to get whatever you buy during the run.

Nice spot - seems no one actually paid too much attention to that run.

As Harry points out, he resets because of a softlock. We've had a basically the same situation before with ASNRC1PB - it's also possible to have to reset to fix a softlock there. The solution we had was to allow technically invalid runs at first, until someone got a fully valid one. Then we used a validity variable to hide all the invalid runs by default, but kept them on the boards for history. In lieu of any response by Hubert, we'll do the same here.

In normal runs we'd usually just reject anything invalid brought to our attention, but in these two cases they're obscure memey runs, which can somewhat easily be invalidated over an hour in due to a mistake, so we'll be a little nicer.

A run with 000ms "time without loads" will show 000ms "time with loads", even if with loads has a different ms value. Doesn't seem like any other value does this.

We decided it/segmented runs aren't really things that fit the leaderboard format, there's little competition if any, and obsolete runs might still be interesting. If you want I can post your older auto test bot run in there too, I don't really care about mine.

Auto Test Bot in 4:23:54 By Bisqwit.

The game contains a bot that automatically solves all puzzles, used for regression testing during development. This video shows it playing through the full game, showcasing all the intended solutions.

Gehenna Jumpless Any% in 19:47.267 By apple1417.

Continuing on from the Jumpless Any%, the question of if Gehenna Jumpless was possible was quickly asked. Strats were found and the run was started soon after, only to die to a Goliath strat too inconsistent for even segmented. The run was restarted a year later when an alt was discovered, which still today is one of the best combination of glitches ever used in a route.

Jumpless Any% in 26:34.967 By apple1417.

This run started with an innocent enough question in the discord one day: "Is it possible to do a no jump run?" at the time the answer was no, but it got people thinking. A few days, and several terribly inconsistent strats later, this run was born.

There are two sets of subcategory rules in that example, in case it matters, "- Complete the game through the Messenger Ending." is from one and all the 60fps talk is from the other.

Links in general shouldn't be the same as your theme colour. It does look ok in a few spots, but there are many more where it just looks obnoxious. The latest series of updates unfortunately patched several of our glitches, and made many others much more annoying. Because of this, after much discussion with the community, we have decided to allow all old versions. Check this guide for information on how to downpatch and what changed between various versions.

The most useful version is 244371. Compared to 326589, the version we were all used to and that most runs were done on, this version reverts a few mostly insignificant map changes, but more importantly it returns an attribute we call "Instant portals". On newer versions there is about a second after each load where the transition portals won't activate even if you're moving. Additionally, there is about half a second after each load where you can't sprint, and if you start holding sprint during the load it has no effect. On versions with instant portals there is no delay before you can start transitioning, you can immediately sprint, and you can sprint out of loading screens. This saves about a second per world transition and about 1/6th of a second per load.

For now we have decided not to split leaderboards based on versions. If there is enough support for it then we may split them later.

If you try submit a run between midnight and 1am with your system time set to NZDT (UTC+13) the site won't let you submit using the auto-filled date with the message "Are you in the future?". Here's how it looked for me: https://imgur.com/a/yGkBADz . Waiting until 1am then let the run though again.

To me at least it seems like you make sure the date that's going to be submitted isn't more than 12h ahead of UTC, so it should be a simple enough fix to change that to 14h to properly encompass all time zones.

Ok firstly, using steam achievement manager does not work. If you used it then you'll need to lock the achievements again and unlock them legitimately. This is because you need to set certain flags, which also happen to unlock the achievements, but having the achievements does not mean having the flags. Because of this I think it's misleading to say you need the achievements to unlock paint at the right time.

Next let's make sure you're not just doing something wrong and missing a paint line. In a cube any% run you get the following lines: Start a new game Unlock an item Solve a puzzle requiring an item Read a QR Code Listen to an audio log If you're missing any of these you won't get paint. The most important one here is read a QR, it's the only one that doesn't save the game, so if you reset right afterwards it doesn't count, you need to get a new checkpoint first. If you do it like Azo does it in his tutorial you should be fine though.

If nothing's worked so far it means there's something going on with your save file. If you unlocked the achievements on a different computer to the one you're trying on now, and you don't have steam cloud on, then the save with the right flags would not be transferred, so you obviously won't get paint. The fix for this would be to turn on steam cloud or copy the files manually (they are in "[main steam directory]\userdata[your steam id]\257510\remote").

One last thing that might have happened is just that you deleted the save manually after getting the achievements. You'll know if you did this and the only real fix to to unlock them again.
