Question : Is [random emulator name not mentioned in rules] allowed ?
Answer : no.
Yeah, what about a pointless leaderboard for a 3 minute category ? You sure are the very first one to ask, or even think about that.

To remind people that when they happen to post a comment with 2 sentences, they can do it in a single message (using the "edit message" thing if needed) instead of splitting it ? Yeah, definitely. But when it comes to validating runs, only one is fine, though.
It's in the leaderboard rules. "Play through all 150cc cups in order". Do you even know how to read ?
Also yeah, just start 4 identical threads at once for a question you could answer yourself in 15 seconds and 2 clicks, noone will notice.
No, it's NOT required. Do you see "video proof required" written anywhere ? How many runs with a video do you see on the leaderboards ? I mean, when you're given an simple answer to a simple question, no need to double check.
The tournament dream has finally come true. Here it is : http://challonge.com/MK7AllCupsMemeTourney . It will be All Cups, GLITCHLESS, and registration is up until December 31st. Meme™. Good luck to everyone :)
From the rules on the Catch'em All leaderboards : "The 3DS Virtual Console version is not allowed due to an error in how money manipulation is emulated."
Maybe you should read the rules before considering learning a new category ? 🤔
^ That, but since it needs overclocking to actually record gameplay, it makes the game run at a higher framerate than usual. Which is actually kinda sad, because that would've been a good way to record runs otherwise
I don't think there were many glitches when this game first got its leaderboards, and it doesn't look like it has been very active since, so noone really bothered asking for a category split, I guess. I like the idea, though.
But now that raises 2 other problems :
- First, there are 12 runs (out of 70, what a joke) for which glitch usage is not specified. Some of them were completed several years ago, and only 1 out of the 12 has a video proof. In which category do you put the remaining 11 ? I mean, you can still try to contact the runner, but can (s)he even remember anything from a run (s)he did 2 years ago ? And if not, do you arbitrarily put it in the glitched leaderboard, or do you give the runner the "benefit of the doubt" and consider the run glitchless ? Either possibility leads to unfair situations, even though you could consider it's the runner's fault for not mentioning glitch usage in the first place.
- Second, not a real problem, but something that could bring back an old debate : only the fifth best glitched run (excluding the first 3 "unspecified glitch usage" runs above) has a video. Does that mean it's the only one eligible for 1st place, therefore excluding the first 4 from all leaderboards (since they can't be considered WR and they can't go in the glitchless category), or can we break the video-for-WR "rule" by considering CommanderZant's 1:23:20 counts since it was completed before the split ?
TL;DR - I like the idea, but we shouldn't consider a category split until we know how to treat the 11 runs that don't mention glitch usage, and the top 4 glitched runs without a video.
No rules are set on this game yet, but NTR is known to make other games run faster, so I think it will be banned if Lafungo ever comes here again. Though, runs without video are fine here as long as you don't get WR, so it doesn't prevent you from submitting your times :)
Swaph_ made a Silver hack-rom with spinners stuck looking away, little to no early game encounters, and no dangerous moves on annoying fights (Red's Pikachu only knows Charm, Rival 2's Bayleef doesn't know Razor Leaf, a bunch of Supersonic were removed, etc.), and he "only" got a 3:13:48 with it, despite being one of the top runners of this game (he has a 3:22:00 as you can see on the leaderboards, and currently has about 2.8k attempts). So I think sub 3:10 would only be barely reachable for human strats, with perfect crit luck and frame-perfect mashing... And therefore sub 3 is not even questionable, unless a magical 10-minute timesave is found, which most likely won't happen since we're talking about a Glitchless category ^^
Here's the 3:13:48 video on Swaph's channel if you want to watch it :)
Yes, they are acceptable, at least for Glitchless. But 3DSVC isn't a possible platform yet, probably because noone asked for it yet. (Hi mods could you please add it, thanks Kappa )
No. 101% Pointless. There are plenty of places to compare Time Trials with way more people than here.
We already know how low we can go, 0:00 IGT is free on Yellow (so even with RTA it would soon go down to the frames)
Because any% = pointless layout full of optimal times.
