I don't see anything wrong with it, if your new time verification was correct. Having a impartial third party verify your work will remove all doubt of foul play though.
I can easily see this being a problem if, for instance, you start a leaderboard only using seconds and not milliseconds, but then needing to add them in later. It would cause all runs to be retimed in a much more precise manner.
So the scenario is valid. But if the other runner or future runners dispute your runs, have a third party retime them.
they aren't actually a bot
they are just self-promoting in a stupid way. but they aren't a bot.
it sounds more like you are paying for the recovery/carry rather than /donating/ for recovery/carry.
why call it donating if it's a paid service? just curious.
how long has it been since you asked Marshy?
Also the rules for that game don't require a timer??
I did the first 1/5th of the game I submitted and it went through. it was 6 of 30 levels.
It's Saturday!!
So this week I started recording IL's for Ballad of Solar. Have 6 out of the 30 levels recorded and submitted. I keep finding funny things about the game, like that it actually has an IL-only strat that can save like 8 seconds per level. XD who'd have thunk there was tech like that for a time management game? Exciting!
I've also picked out 2 other games to start working up to running, Pokemon Crystal (though i'm doing it to run the poorly translated rom hack called Pokemon Vietnamese Crystal - it's hilarious) And also going to try to run the GBC version of Azure Dreams.
My idea for a Senior Capstone Design Project got approved! Just waiting to see if enough people are interested in it to make a team. It's essentially the idea of creating a more immersive VR experience in the case of traditional movement controls in a sit-down VR game by adding slight acceleration-based feedback onto your body. Should be really fun to work on!
Did you not hear anything else i said about tone? ok then
bye
It's not so important to go to the level of organization you are talking about unless the game becomes incredibly popular with a large number of runners. there are 6 runners and almost all of the categories have no runs submitted.... So perhaps this would be a bigger issue if there were more runners?
And maybe they aren't "bad" moderators but "NEW" moderators. Maybe they don't know what they are doing right or wrong. So maybe, if you think you know how to do the boards better, try using the Carrot instead of the Stick.
You posts on the game's forum come off as a bit uppity, so maybe changing your tone will actually resolve the issue and convince them to change things. But continuing down the abrasive route won't get you anywhere.
For instance, what if your original post on the game's forum was this instead: "Recently some changes had happened, such as new categories, and I have some feedback as to how to improve the boards further!
-
Adding Normal Categories could even out the board
-
Making the Difficulty a subcategory of the type of run would reduce clutter. Like making it Full game and Full game glitchless and then you choose the difficulty.
-
A NSW(No Silver Weapons) run would be awesome to have, I'm really interested in that category!
-
We should also probably have a 100% run, right?
-
We could make the IL's just be 8 boards with the difficulties being the subcategories.
-
Why are we adding Glitchless Any%? I'm curious as to what motivated this addition.
-
Clarifying the rules for each category would help quite a bit
-
What is defined as glitch and which mechanic failure can be used and not be considered as a glitch? Is changing weapons during M16A2 launcher reload to cancel the animation considered a glitch or just unintended mechanic exploit?
Please answer as soon as possible, because I'm really excited to continue running this game! thank you."
So... I looked at the forum of the game you are talking about, and this moderator seems OK to me. -They said that the board is a work in progress, great boards don't happen overnight, especially if you can't afford to be on the site everyday. -They seem knowledgeable about the game and understood how the board is currently setup and is willing to make additional categories and such if people want to run them. Seems decent enough for a board with 6 runners total. -Agreeing with someone other than you doesn't make them a bad moderator. It means they have a different opinion. -Your post in the game's forum was also a little on the abrasive side so it's expected that a moderator would get defensive as well.
Did I address everything or did I miss a part of your argument?
have you tried reaching out to the mods on social media? If you haven't, try that first, wait a week, then ask again. .
EDIT: Strawberry Milk moderates the Nascar game you are talking about and was online a day ago. Have patience. Melon on the other hand does not have social media links. So i suggest waiting a week or two and then ask again for that game. Also, moderators have lives too so don't be surprised if some mods take a week or two to get around to runs at times. it isn't ideal but you have to have patience
"Totally" is usually an indicator of sarcasm unless Gyoo normally uses that speech pattern
The WR on the expert mode no manipulation is really impressive actually. i think my fastest time for expert is like 5-6 minutes or something
if you aren't following ANY games, the site will show the entire game list. So moving the marathons to the bottom wouldn't be a smart move in terms of visibility for users who aren't following any games.
the switch is also perfect for portability. You can't record it unless it's docked, but you can definitely practice your speedruns for Switch games when you are out and about.
achievement hunters are welcome! I have a friend who plats every single game they pick up on the PS4. EVERY SINGLE ONE. I find it's really impressive.
Anyways, always remember to check the rules for the submissions here in case there's something extra that they need you to do or not do in order to post it to the leaderboard!
Gl luck on your runs and may you 100% achievements all your games!
bingo. yes.
all the games I keep finding myself interested in are all longer games. XD but if i do get into a shorter one, that advice will definitely help!!
Any general game mechanic advice you could pass on to help me route the GB version? or glitches to test? I know the games are different but there must be certain mechanics that stay the same that you've already optimized, right?
Starting from scratch is rough but a challenge I'm willing to accept! XD
