this guide will touch on some of the functionalities of a flare that can help save some time on your runs.

1. Burn Paper Trash Without Leaving Ash

a flare can burn paper trash such as crumpled paper, paper cups, water bottles and notes. however, if the flare burns the paper trash on top of a physical item, it won't leave ash on the ground. so basically, if you burn a paper trash on top of a crate, it won't leave ash, and that also includes bins and empty buckets.

basically, place flares in a bin, place paper trash inside the bin, and let the magic happen.

this tactic saves bin space, which saves the amount of times you need to go back and forth from the incinerator to the area you're cleaning, which leads to a huge time save.

2. Using Flares as a Temporary Light Source

Flares placed in a bin can still emit light without interference. this is particularly useful in penumbra where you can potentially save time placing lanterns everywhere. bear in mind that a flare can only last for 3 minutes, so take that into consideration when routing your runs. so just place a lit flare inside a bin, and go collect your rubbish. of course, you might still need a light source when you're mopping and many more reasons why this strat might not be practical, but just know that this is a potential strat and implement it when necessary.
