The LRT for Penta+Deln's Co-Op Any% 2 player run shows an LRT of 1:21:29, but once I found out how they timed this, I believe it is unfairly retimed for other runners and should be re-adjusted. I will explain below:

LRT (Load Removed Time) pauses the timer during loading screens to make it equal across everyone's hardware. The timer continues running when you're in the main menu, however. I think we all know this.

Most Any% runs can be taken as an example for seeing it in action:

11:59

33:08

Note that Co-Op runs have an exception to this LRT method.

When in the main menu, the timer resumes like in any other category, but when going to the Lobby for co-op (letting player 2 join), the timer continues here too:

32:31

Penta+Deln's, as well as mine and Molly's Co-Op runs all use LRT.

At the end of Penta's video, the LRT timer shows 1:25:18, whilst their submitted time on the leaderboards and also in the video, claim it is actually 1:21:29.

1:29:03

This run uses LRT like normal, so what makes them think they achieved this speedrun time? I tried several methods until figuring it out:

Let's take my run, and framecount the total amount of time spent waiting in the lobby while the timer is still running. See the image below (you can verify my calculations using my video and framecounting here)

In my run, my total LRT was 1:22:12. The timer was still running for a total of 5514 frames (at 60fps), while waiting for my co-op partner to re-join in the lobby.

Using this, it would bring my run down to a time of 1:20:40, a WR, but let's do the same on Penta's video to compare:

The timer runs for (approximately*) 11295 frames in the lobby, while he waits for Deln to re-join.

***(**his timer only shows one decimal, so I started framecounting from the first frame the decimal number went up, to the last frame it does in the loading screen)

With the framecounting, his speedrun time totals 1:22:11, still 42 seconds off of his claimed 1:21:29, so I dug deeper.

Penta's time of 1:21:29 is achieved by taking his video, and subtracting all time spent in the main menu + lobby, from his LRT time.

Framecounting the total amount of time that the timer is ticking in the main menu, during his run, yields a total of approximately 13887 frames, or 3:51.45 minutes:

It is roughly a second off, due to his timer using decimals, and if you pay close attention to my co-op run video, you will see that the timer stops for a few frames when loading the lobby menu. This would take a few frames out of the total framecount with this method.

I have not re-timed my run using the same method, as it wouldn't do much but prove again that mine and Molly's run is faster, but if asked for, I can.

The LRT of 1:21:29 is very unusual to me, as no other BL1 categories or runs on the leaderboards remove total time spent in the main menu with the LiveSplit timer ticking.

You can see that in any of the above examples.

What is my proposal here?

Mention it in the category rules that you can (and probably should) re-time your co-op runs to remove the time from main menus altogether.

This would put the LRT time for mine+Molly's run at 01:20:40 LRT, and it would put Penta+Deln's run at an LRT of 01:22:11 LRT.

I will re-submit my run if needed, so that both me and Molly show up as the runners (i don't know if they need a Speedrun profile or not, however). If a mod could edit my leaderboard time, that would be fine too.

I am sorry for making this unneccesarily complicated, but I really felt like pointing out this very large and unexplained inaccuracy in the speedrun time. Thank you for your understanding.

Since Battleborn is playable again, this means that you can technically submit runs again!

However, since most of the functionality (including the main menu and the game's IGT calculation) is still missing, I have tried to figure out whatever gets closest to it.

So far, I found a method for calculating in-game time that gets close, but it is not exact.

For Main Story Geared/Gearless or any main story missions, you can calculate in-game time loosely with this website:

https://somewes.com/frame-count/

To explain this more easily I will use one of my own videos:

Set the Console Preset to Custom and the Console FPS to 60.

You can move forwards and backwards in videos per 1/5/10 frames, seconds or minutes.

Set the start frame to the first frame that your character can move. As an example, in my own Main Story Geared video, ISIC starts moving in The Algorithm on frame 40933.

Set the end frame to the first frame that the player/UI disappears when the mission is completed. In the same video, this is on frame 91974.

With this timing method, the in-game time frame counted is ~1.25-2 minutes slower than what the game used when servers were online.

This does not work with Operations. I am still trying to figure out how to calculate that.

If you submit any runs, I'll double check with frame counting.

I hope this helps!

Thanks to the incredible work of gwog and several other contributors, Battleborn PvE missions and Operations are playable again!

Please note, however, that submitting new runs to the leaderboards is difficult at the moment because of these limitations (at the time of writing):

  • PvE Co-Op does not work;
  • PvP (Online or bots) does not work;
  • The main menu and loot aren't implemented yet;
  • IGT isn't shown yet (And I still don't know how the game calculates it..)

Who knows, maybe they will re-implement these things in the future.

For more info on how to install, bugs and updates, please check the #frequently-asked-questions and #installation-tutorial channels on the Battleborn discord.

Hello! I'm considering on learning/running this game. I'll be running this through the Snes9x GX emulator that can be installed on the Nintendo Wii. This is a SNES emulator based off of SNES9x version 1.53. I noticed that 1.43 and lower aren't allowed. What about this version? Is it fine?

Hello. I am looking to make some category-related guides, but am not sure if I should include tips and tricks for certain race tracks, or keep it to which characters you need to select. I'm hoping that others have some ideas, that will make the Guides I have in mind even better.

Make sure to let me know!

EDIT: The tutorial has been made. It is in the Guides section. Follow this link if you want to go there directly. https://www.speedrun.com/cartoon_network_racing_ps2/guide/6nnc1
