There may be times when a person is banned from the leaderboards. We strongly feel that accusations of cheating are very serious and this forum is the place to make a public response and/or appeal if you believe you have been unfairly judged. Internal moderator discussion itself is not public, only specific reasons/examples for bans will be public record. THERE NEED NOT BE ANY FORUM DISCUSSION BEFORE MODS REJECT A RUN OF YOURS OR BAN YOU. This information is purely for those who have been banned/rejected and want a proper response, or an appeal, all on public record.
- Put [Ban Appeal] or [Reject Appeal] in your thread title
- Present your case (likely countering arguments against you)
No worries, it's confusing to keep track of all the different versions and platforms.
Just as an aside, online BB and GC have their own Time Attack communities/rules (that predate the current popular "Speedrunning" paradigm), that are focused on Challenge Mode and Ultimate Mode on a per quest (those with timers, anyway) basis (although GC is relatively niche/dead). https://ephinea.pioneer2.net/ is the best place currently for BB fwiw
Additionally, Blue Burst has no offline mode so a server is required. Since the official servers are closed you would either have to use a public one or host your own locally, both of which introduce issues (non-uniform configurations, trivial to make undetectable changes for unfair advantages). Duping and Weapon Stacking don't work on BB (or Plus), so it would probably only be usable for glitchless anyway. Kind of a shame since being able to run immediately from a standstill makes the game more enjoyable (plus the general perks of being on pc).
Complete a run and we'll add your category.
Requirements: • Video evidence • Meaningful restrictions / criteria (stupid shit like 'Do 10 Baxters, then get baby Mario taken by a frog, Warpless, on a Tuesday' will not be accepted).
Post here / make a thread or ask a mod on discord / twitter
I've never heard of a single gc server banning anyone for anything outside of repeated FSODing
You could consider finding a gamecube server instead of using netplay, that way you both have full screens to yourself. I'm not really that knowledgeable about the online gamecube scene these days but feel free to ask if you have any trouble.
If it interests you, make it a thing!
Reasons off the top of my head:
You have to share already scarce resources. All enemies have buffed stats in multi-mode; additionally, their set-damage attacks are even stronger, increasing the max HP required to not get OHKO'd. Increased EXP might help mitigate this somewhat, not really sure. Tiny screen and lag.
Co-op runs have historically been online and quest-based (Ultimate mode quests with endgame gear / Challenge Mode).
Series Mods cannot remove games from the series, if this seriously bothers you to the point where you make 2 threads about it in the same week, plead your case to an admin.
So the runs page is breaking when the first 2 characters of the splits.io ID are a certain combination of a numbers and/or letters (e.g. '1z' and 'z1' but not '9t' or 't9'). Also, an ID that broke the page an hour ago '1if0' no longer does so, the inconsistency is a bit annoying. Can you look into it please?
Ok, everything should be set up correctly. Please post if you see a run with the wrong class, I checked all the glitchless runs, but I'm just assuming all the glitched are RAcast
Thanks! Glitched uses RAct but the glitchless categories do not
No Reset restriction removed from 100% and Warps: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oi0iDiO5Zo5ugDPrQ9-aXLTe4Ota-tQwUk1lS2Ifp6s
You can filter 100% / Warps runs by the "Ruleset" / "Restrictions" variable to only view runs without console resets
We are currently voting on removing the "No Reset" restriction on 100%, warps, and warpless. If you run the game, join the discord and check #leaderboard pins for the google form link to vote.
There will also be a future proposal to submit ILs to the leaderboard only using the proper multiples of the SNES framerate (60.0988 fps). This is to prevent recording at ~30 fps to potentially save a frame over ~60 fps recordings, as well as to incentivize capturing ILs at the correct frame rate (30.0494i). Will update when that happens.
Yeah, it's incredibly easy to add. The annoying part is checking existing runs and editing them lol
I think you're just asking for a Class variable to be added. But yeah, great idea
Leaderboard Global Rules
• Allowed Emulators: Snes9x 1.51, 1.53 - 1.56.2 ** Click for compiled snes9x 1.56.2 core for retroarch** (I strongly recommend you compile things yourself, but if you don't care, here it is, source)
[center][big]Retroarch Rules[/big][/center] • Runahead is banned (this also applies in general for the same concept in any other emulator) • Frame delay may be set as high as you want, be warned that setting this too high will be detrimental to emulator performance depending on the power of your cpu • Settings must be shown after the run to show runahead, framerate, etc
[center][big]Bans[/big][/center] • SD2SNES, Bizhawk/Higan/BSNES, Snes9x 1.43, Snes9x 1.57+, zsnes etc. are banned. All emulators that have fewer lag frames than the official console release are banned. Only emulators that are slower than console are allowed (all Super FX 2 emulation is inaccurate). If you have reason to believe an emulator update has changed the SFX2 emulation to an acceptable level, contact a moderator on discord or twitter, or post about it here.
• No use of controller functions that are not possible on an unmodified stock controller (e.g. macros, left+right, turbo).
• No use of outside tools (e.g. RAMwatch, LUAscript).
• No outside modification of game code. This includes things like cheat devices (e.g. game genie), crooked cart, and modified roms.
• Use of savestates and rewind on the Switch and SNES Classic versions is banned.
[center][big]Leaderboard Requirements[/big][/center] • It is highly recommended, but not required, that you locally record your runs if you want to submit to the leaderboard, in case your stream goes down for any reason. OBS can stream and record the same encode. If you have any questions or issues, post here, or ask in the Discord. We care about new runners and we will help you.
• All submissions that would be a Top 15 time require full video proof in perpetuity. Full video means ONE segment, with full audible game audio. Two split twitch VoDs or a VoD with partially muted audio is NOT a full video. If you have audio or recording issues, please ask here or on the Discord. Do NOT wait until a Top 15 PB to bring up an issue. No exceptions will be granted for status or circumstance, the rules apply to everyone, equally.
• Suspicious submissions without video will be discussed by the moderators (e.g. a sub 2:00 warpless time from someone we've never heard of, or talked to). Some sort of proof of capability is what we're looking for here.
• Mods cannot verify their own full game runs. If this happens, post about it here please.
• Old accepted runs that do not meet the new criteria are Grandfathered In.
Any questions, comments, or criticisms can be posted in this thread or on the Discord server.
