Greetings! If you have any ideas about new categories that might be good to be added to the leaderboard, feel free to share your thoughts in this thread. :-)
A new speedrun category has been added: 2,500 points.
Hello!
The first categories added shortly after Google Hot Air Balloon had appeared on Speedrun.com can be divided into two groups:
- highscore category: Highscores
- speedrun categories: 1,000; 5,000; 10,000.
This thread will present informations about changes in the leaderboards.
Announcement #6
Another cosmetic change. I have added a transparent background to the make the game's logo look better.
Hello! I'm preparing right now a guide on how to do it. :)
Basically, it appears in Play Store only when you are offline. I will explain everything as detailed as it is possible in the guide.
Edit: Done. The guide has been finished. Link: https://www.speedrun.com/ghab/guide/fwisn
It was really deleted? It's a shame, because it was really useful and time saving. :(
Hello @chriswift! I apologize for responding after several days, but lately I forgot to check the forum. If you see no responses here on our forum, you might also try contacting one of moderators through other medias mentioned on their profiles (like Discord or YouTube).
I discussed the question you have asked with other mods and we decided that the current number of mods (four moderators) is enough. Runs are being verified fast and smoothly, so as for now the amount of mods that are in the mod team is enough to verify everything relatively fast. However don't worry - if the mod team will require a new moderator, I will surely consider you as the candidate. :)
Thank you @AslanTZ for informing me about a new post on this forum! :)
Hello. Yes, you can.
While submitting your run, please don't forget to check "Emulator" box.
I have a question regarding Full Game (Legacy). Can new runs be submitted with a chance of being verified? I mean a situation in which you play on the current version of the game, but play only those two first Worlds.
I have already submitted two runs showing Full Game after Far North update. One is a regular full-game run of all currently availble Worlds (there are three of them), but I submitted also another run for the Legacy category, by cutting off the fragment of the same video to make it show only Worlds 1-2. Here comes another question I would like to is. Is that kind of situation allowed, or should I record a separate run (if yes, then can it be on the newest version)?
I think it will get fixed soon. Not that long ago, due to adding another World to the game, there were two subcategories meant for full game runs (for the older version and for the current one) and they were added to Individual Level runs as well, but I'm not sure if that was the only reason.
Now, when we have separate Full Game and Full Game Legacy (this one as Misc. category), distinction like the one you mentioned is not needed in ILs in my opinion.
Edit: @XP3, ahh, good to know! I didn't know that there has been an issue like that for some time after Far North update (let's call it like that, lol) was released. Good to hear it has been already patched.
As I remember that was the reason why runs of the whole Worlds are not timed by in-game times, but by real time spent on finishing one of them. Same goes with Full Game runs.
I say yes, you can verify your own runs. All of your submissions were fine, with proper times submitted and proper video proofs attached to the submissions. Therefore I see no problems with that. :)
It depends on you, though. If you are not sure whether you want to verify all runs or only other people's runs, I might change your role from regular moderator to verifyer. You will have less things which you would be allowed to do (basically you will be able only to verify other speedrunners' submissions), but you might see how do you like it.
I would recommend staying with being a mod. You know the game, know the rules and if a speedrunner would come to you with a question I'm sure you will be able to help. If not, you might send that person to one of Super Mods.
Done, apparently there was no "1 month old account" requirement, my bad. I saw that kind of requirements on forums of some games before, but they were not mandatory in general. They were rather specific rules that Super Mods added to specify the mod recrutation process in the games they were modding.
I edited our posts accordingly by removing the information about the thing I'm talking about, to simply make them look better. Sorry for inconveniences. :)
Welcome on board, @AslanTZ! If you will have any questions, feel free to ask.
@AslanTZ, Hello! Sorry that I didn't reply earlier, but last time I checked the forum was shortly before your post. Thanks for reminding me about this thread in the description under one of your submitted runs. :)
Yes, lately I've been the only active mod. The mod team has been modified to have only active mods in it who are willing to continue modding this game. Oh, and I became a Super Mod, by the way.
Answering to your question, of course! It would be awesome to have more active mods. :D In fact I've been thinking about asking you soon whether you would like to mod The Impossible Ninja Escape, but I wanted to wait until you will be able to send private messages.
You are active, you know the game and know how to make a proper video of the run. Although you need to enable e-mail authentication before I can make you a moderator.
Hello. Don't forget to read the rules before submitting runs for PowerUp categories. Both for ILs and for Full game runs a power-up has to be used at least once. It doesn't matter if it will be actually helpful or not.
Submitted runs that won't meet this requirement will be verified as NoPowerUp% runs.
As for Full game runs, while it is not mandatory, I highly encourage to write down all in-game times of all levels (failed attempts included) and to distinguish somehow (i.e. by adding the proper information) the level or levels during which a power-up was used.
It's basically Low% with few exceptions due to the game mechanics not allowing to finish the game without collecting a coin that is above the trophy (the finishing point of each level).
Just as @Mike_Santiago said, the name that is currently used is a good one for that kind of a category.
